You'll spend a nice time visiting this place. We found it a bit messy : this place is (was) apparently a school but carries many names, as museum of science, museum of mineralogy, etc. nothing clear anyway ... The upper floor (the bigger place) was...More

There you go: my title already gives you the choice to visit or not this museum. If you are looking for polished final mineral items skip it. Now if you like the history of raw, brute minerals, you can’t miss this museum. A tremendous display...More

Good mineral exhibit on the first floor, with an even more extensive collection upstairs. Upstairs exhibits are likely much more interesting for school aged children who speak Portuguese. No photography of the minerals allowed.

It only cost $10 Reais to enter and has a good history of mining. I think they should enhance their Mineral collection, a little sparse for being in one of the Mineral capitals of the world.

Minerals and mining are at the heart of Minas Gerais and the museum gives a good introduction. The early fossil section was also informative and we loved the room with the top quality stones right after the mining section. The top floor was a bit...More

Not the richest of exhibits but its an ok small museum. The mineral sections are worth to see. The other sections are a bit distant from each other.

I visited the museum several times but I would go again. A very comprehensive collection of gemstones and minerals that can be enjoyed even for non collectors. A must visit to start falling in love with a wonderful word of minerals.

We enjoyed all of the beautiful displays. My son was blown away by the variety of minerals. They could have a less fussy way of progressing through the museum, and better signage on which way to go next. Very inexpensive.
