Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Incredible, beautiful and striking place. It has arts that impact you, in addition to enriching your knowledge, containing several texts telling each little bit.

There are a lot of pluses: great location, lovely grounds, historic building and extensive collection covering lots of interesting periods, so it is ultimately worth a visit.
However, I couldn't help but walk away with a bad taste in my mouth, women are barely mentioned in exhibits until the very end where there is a woman's section but even that is mainly about men. It leaves one with three possibilities: historical artifacts relating to women weren't valued in the past hence they're missing or the indigenous cultures were/are sexist and do not value women or the museum is sexist in its curation. Not sure what the truth is but even a bit of a clearer narrative about why it is, would be helpful. Instead we get a straight faced statement about how Men didn't used to need women to produce babies and it was women's rudeness that let to them taking that on.

Other things to note, about half the exhibits have English translation but it is usually pretty pompous and verbose.

The exhibits themselves though are pretty fascinating so it is still worth a visit (especially as it is free.

This is a very big museum. I couldn't visit all the rooms. But, even though the name is related to the state Paraná, this museum is not just about Paraná's history. There are many articles from different parts of the world, like coins and old money. But there is a room with stuffed animals there are common in this part of the country, and also some history of the native people. The only complaint about the museum is that some identification tags were missing and I left without understanding some articles there.

I ventured here by myself on a rainy day. I was pleasantly pleased that is was a free admission. I was also pleased that the collection of items was really interesting. Only problem I don’t speak Portuguese. Worth a look though.

Housed in a lovely historic home, the museum affords information to any traveler in Curitiba. Spend time reading the descriptions so you can understand how the state of Paraná came to be.
