Itaipu in detail: a special and unforgettable tour through the interior of the Plant

A special and full of energy visit: in addition to seeing the famous sights of the Panoramic Tour, you will still get a closer look of the details of the Plant, the architecture of the majestic concrete cathedrals that make up the 196 meters high dam (equivalent to a 65-story building).

The Itaipu Dam is an incredibly large manmade construction on the border of Brazil and Paraguay, just an hour from Iguazu Argentina. From upclose you can see with your own eyes how the dam functions. The tour guides are ever so friendly and knowledgeable. Go there if you want to see a modern world wonder. Take the special tour and... More

Itaipu Dam has plenty of attractions. If you want to visit the internal part of the Dam, don't forget to bring pants and dress shoes. Kids under 14 are not allowed to get into the internal part. The external part visit also worths the visit. It is done all by bus and there is a guide explaining details of the... More

Guided tour was pretty good, very informative and well paced. Views and landscape are beautiful and adds to the fact that it's one of the world's largest engineering works.

We took a side trip here and the tourist tour - it is an excellent tour, clean, informative and really quite amazing. I never suspected to be this excited about a Dam Tour, but also enjoyed it as much as Iguazu Falls.

The biggest hydroelectic dam in Brazil, they offer 8 differtent tours for any kind of visitors. For some like the special tour and the night tour you should book in advance mainly during December and January. Very interesting for the kids also.

There was a time when this hydroelectric plant and damn were special ... now, it just seems like an old, outdated structure. The visit is not very interesting, unless you are really into these sort of things.

It's really cool to visit this Hydroelectric MASSIVE dam. But just the panoramic tour it's enough. Do not get into the boat tour, it's senseless, it's not BAD but it's just going into the water and coming back. With the panoramic bus and it's explanation it's enough to enjoy the massiveness of the dam and the surroundings. If you can... More

The tour was impressive: you first see a movie with figures about the dam. Then you get in the bus and drive to various points where you can see the dam. The info is I'm English,Portuguese and Spanish. The tour only takes about 1,5 hours or so, it is easy accessible via bus from the bus terminal. If you are... More

Amazing project just a 15min drive outside of town. The panoramic visits takes about 2h in addition to the 15min movie at the visitors center. Absolutely worth it if you have the time.
