Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is a really easy walk, we even did it in flips-flops. It is a small loop in the forest where you will see the old prison, old aqueduc, small river and a beach. Worth it.

This structure is about 15 minutes out of the main town along a well marked and open track , you have to cross one boulder strewn stream but otherwise its a gentle uphill walk to find this shady area of calm and escape the relative noise found in the main town .
So you have enjoyed this walk . Do think that the walk will be the same if you venture onwards to the Cachoeira da Feiticeira (water falls) . The path gets very steep , over grown and will take you a good hour and half of hard treking in steamy conditions. Best to turn round back to town and get a boat round

Real cool hike to the aquaduct.
I just poped out of nowhere.

Just behind the 'lake' põço.

Almost overgrown

We were in Ilha Grande as part of a tour from our cruise ship. Really pretty, laid back area with a moderate hiking trail that takes you by this now defunct aqueduct on your way to the waterfall, beaches and old prison. You might see monkeys along the way. Take your swimsuit as you will want to get in the water at some point!

It's a treat to find some industrial archaeology in such an unexpected place. Difficult to photograph without a very wide angle lens but well worth the walk.

The structure itself is impressive especially when you consider that is was built in 1893. It is 100 meters long and 30 meters tall. It was built by slaves at the request of Emperor Dom Pedro II to supply water to the quarantine hospital. At that time all visitors to the island had to be quarantined for several weeks.

We went on a very hot summers day. We walked past the aqueduct, we stopped to read the description plaque but there's not much else here.

The aqueduto is built on the trail to one of the islands waterfalls and makes for a great snap/backdrop. There is some information nearby telling you about its history.

This aqueduct can be seen on the T1 hiking route. Don't think I would go out of my way to see it but was a nice addition to the route which also had a natural pool, old prison and two beaches.

It's not worth it to walk there specifically, but if you are on your way to the beach or waterfall, it makes for a nice pit stop and picture.
