Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

PARNASO is one of the most amazing national parks in the world. It is famous because of the Petrópolis-Teresópolis crossing that you can make. But you need to prepare yourself. Most people in good condition take 3 days to finish the crossing, some do faster. When doing the crossing, you can either start from here, the Petrópolis entrance, or from Teresópolis entrance. It is also worth to visit this side of the park if you are just looking to relax. It has amazing rivers to swim and a few short trails you can make to see some waterfalls. Getting to the park from Petrópolis is a bit hard so check your map first and be sure your vehicle can take a few bumpy roads. They don't have a parking lot, but there are a few spots available on the road and some people that live near there will let you park with them for a fee. You can also go there by bus, but you're going to have to walk a little to reach the entrance. If you're interested and want the easier way, make sure to go to Teresópolis which is a nearby city and visit their part of the park, which has a parking lot, a small place to buy food, a pool made of natural water, a river (not as nice as the Petrópolis part) and lots of trails for people wanting a quick fix.

We did a three hour hike from the Petropolis entrance through the jungle to different small waterfalls. It was a nice trail, easy to follow. We were almost the only one out there. There was only one other trail to the mountain Morro d’acu.

ATTENTION:
- From this entrance you cannot see the famous rock formations, that is on the Teresopolis site. We didn’t know this, so that was a pity.
- Its quite a long drive on a dirt road before you’re at the ‘visitor centre’. There are soms signs but not on every corner.
- the ‘visitor centre’ on this site only has a few posters and a man to whom you can pay the entrance fee. It’s more an entrance gate then visitor centre.

The park is clean and safe with waterfalls along the way and some trail marking, however half way up to Acu the Trail marks started to disappear and I was glad I hired a tour guide. I planned to hike and stayed overnight at the Abrigo do Acu and then I went next day to the Hercules Portal hiking back to Petropolis. It was an amazing experience filled with Waterfalls, interesting wildlife and breathtaking views! I highly recommend our guide Mario from the Campo de Aventuras Serra dos Orgaos. He enhanced our hiking experience! Some people were hiking for the three days passage from Pertropolis to Teresopolis passing all the mentioned plus Dedo de Deus which is also amazing! I've seen it on a different hiking trip there.

Giant National Park. Go spend an afternoon there. Walk around, take pictures. Some people do trekking, hiking or camping there.

If you come to hike the many trails of this national park make sure you come prepared. It will likely be warm and wet, and the trails are not so easy. Bring water, energy snacks, a camera and an open mind. Some of the lookouts offer beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and don't be surprised to encounter monkeys along the way. From the park entrance (fee R$30 pp!) a good road goes up three km to the headwaters of the old aqueduct, with trails leading off at various places along the way. At time of writing the "suspended" trail on top of the aqueduct is closed 350 meters from the top.

The park is really beautiful however its huge. If you come for long trails, so its not a problem for you, but in case with family or just for a short hike, that you should arrive by car. The park isnt free, so you had better bring with you cash, There are many trails for all levels, and nice place beside lake for have picnic.
Dont miss it if you are at Teresepolis.

Well-maintained Natural Park, the trails well signposted, well organized, excellent natural beauty, when I went there was a dry season, so the water flow wasn't so good, extremely cold water, some of the coldest I've ever been to.

I found the Park to be difficult to access and the venue to be very limited compared to the Itatiaia park and those in Tere and Guapi.
