This full-day tour of Rio de Janeiro with convenient hotel pickup is a popular choice for visitors with limited time in the area. Going with a guide means you hit all the city’s highlights without the stress of navigating and hear important context about landmarks along the route, including the Christ the Redeemer statue, Sugarloaf Mountain, and the Selarón Steps. The antique stores are closed, the bars are open and the streets are crowded with the same old same old you can find at any other street fair in Rio. On a sunny day, it is extremely crowded, so much so it is difficult to walk. In other words, be very careful and attentive with respect to pick pockets.

This place is great for street shopping. Picking up various souvenirs of Rio from here was a good idea. It is all so colourful and festive.

During our recent visit to Rio we were looking for a market where we could spend a couple of hours and possibly buy a few gifts. After reading a review on TripAdvisor we visited the Rio Antigo market. The market is on the 1st Saturday of every month and we were lucky to be in Rio for November's market. It's located close to the cathedral and is full of great stalls selling leather bags, jewellery, clothes, etc. I'd definitely recommend this market.

This was sensational!! We stopped at the tourist information kiosk under the Arcosda de Lapa and asked for suggestions on where we could get some authentic street food and restaurants. The man said we could try around the corner but there wasn't really anything available.... well.... we went around the corner and found a street full of food, stalls and restaurants. This was brilliant and just what we were looking for. The day was spent sipping Cuba Libra and eating Fiojada with music and plenty of atmosphere. This made the trip to RDJ. The fair is held on the first Saturday of the month and is a must visit.

We stumbled across the street market and realised it was the place to be on a Saturday The streets were packed with people and live music and outdoor dining We had a traditional lunch of beans and meat and then cocktails and more cocktails Locals were out dancing and enjoying the street party which I believe goes until late We left before dark as I think it gets a bit dangerous later on Highly recommend as part of a visit to Lapa district
