You have to walk the beach but do it when the temperature is cooler and perhaps take a swim in the beautiful waters. There are lots of activities going on throughout the day and early evening. Plenty of places to eat and drink along the beach, watch a game of volley ball on the sands or hire a beach chair... More

Lovwly beach with sift white sand. Every 30 metres or so hoses spay the sand with cold water to cool otherwise you cannot walk barefoot. Beach slopes rapidly to waters edge and waves can be huge. You can hire chairs and sunshades on the beach

This thing is huge. There is so much activity. People watching is spectacular. The vendors get a bit annoying since they are non-stop, but it is still a great way to spend a few hours.

We stayed for a week on this beach and it is very good. As with all of Rio it is very clean and puts Europe to shame. Although packed people take away their own rubbish. Rubbish from cruise ships give them a headache but they clear uo the waterline at least twice a day. Sea very warm.

Such a fun beach with so much to do around. It gets pretty crowded by noon so getting there early helps in finding a neat spot closer to the water

I walked down half the stretch and then biked down most of it on another day. I found it too crowded, loud and not that scenic. I infinitely prefer the nearby Aproador and Ipanema beaches to this.

I always dreamed of going to going to Rio especially Copacabana beach. I was over the moon when me and my partner arrived in Rio. The weather at the beach is perfect and there are loads of restaurants or bars if you want go grab a bite to eat or a drink. I really got a feel for Brazilian culture... More

The water is very cold, the waves can be very strong. You should not go to the sea alone .. If you do not know the beach of copacabana. You can not be foolish. But protect yourself from the heat and the sun. If you do not know how to swim, do not try to do what you don't know,... More

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
