Great, smooth beach and swimmable water. Cheap rental available on the beach chairs and umbrellas. Be aware though that the current and undertow can be very strong. Vendors sell everything from blankets to all kinds of food... pizzas, empanadas....you name it they come by with their little ovens and cook you most anything. But, the vendors never let up. So... I am not really a big beach person, I tend to get bored easy just sitting around. I really tend to prefer locations where I can snorkel or fish to help keep me busy. That said, I spend an afternoon on the beach with my wife and found if fairly enjoyable. The beach seems to be kept clean which is... More

Just as good as hoped it would be. Plenty of bars Tec and lovely view. Good clean sand but too many street sellers. Loved it.

As the most popular points in the world, you must pay attention to your personal items. The sunrise is amazing!

We spent a couple of afternoons lounging on the beach, renting chairs and an umbrella from one of the stands along the beach and ordering snack food from a couple of the food and beverage stands along the walkway. We thought the prices were reasonable, food was just ok, but there are plenty of restaurants to choose from across the... More

We stayed at the JW and this was right out our front door. It was always busy with lots of people on the beautiful winding sidewalk. Plenty of great restaurants align the streets. Beware the bars at night. We went to one right on this strip, looked okay but full of prostitutes who got aggressive with us ladies, when we... More

This beach is groomed every day, it runs parallel to Avenue Atlantica and is totally accessible. Whether you want to relax or play football or volleyball it has it all.

My mum and I travelled to Rio De Janeiro in November 2016, and we were a little worried as we were advised by numerous friends and family to "be really careful. its unsafe!" ... well, its NOT! unless you go out drinking to all hours of the morning and act completely like a fool on the streets, then you are... Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
