I prefer this over Cobacabana

Not as crowded, good sand, can get into shade under a tree as there is park next to the beachfront... Good place to have a run as you can run in the park.

We went here every day. This beach was so far superior to Copacabana or Ipanema. There is a huge partk with green grass going right down to the sand. You can sit under a tree in the shade and enjoy the beach and the view. There are volleyball games going on both on court and on sand, there are 10... More

This is a long beach with a parallel park with a lot of activities for locals like football fields and playgrounds. No waves to speak of and it has been mentioned as one of the waterways with higher bacteria levels, so if you want to go in the water you're probably better off at Copa, Ipaneman, or Leblon, but the... Me and my boyfriend spent a day at Falmengo beach. It's not one of the more popular beaches for tourists, so it was relatively quiet and not a problem finding a spot to lie down. The water was refreshing and not too wild, perfect for a family wanting to spend some time playing.

Visited the beach after staying near Copacabana for the first part of my holiday and then we stayed more Central for a few days of our holiday, this was a great little surprise as it is lovely - there are some great views of the Sugar loaf and it feels very relaxed. Lots of people playing sports and people jogging/walking... More

The Flamengo beach is a nice, small & quiet beach in the Flamengo district area. Less crowded than the more popular beaches of Ipanema & Copacabana. Flamengo beach gives great views of Sugar Loaf & Morro da Urca and is also in close proximity to Aterro do Flamengo and the lovely jogging track. Recommended.

I really enjoy Flamengo beach this time (in the past it was super dirty and dangerous- but I guess the city did a good job cleaning it and making it safer). It was calm and not crowded in high season and had good service from the people selling chairs, umbrellas and food. It was way cheaper for any purchase and... More

Flamengo beach is unique for me because it also offers the Aterro do Flamengo - which is a great park with a jogging track & wonderful sea-views/ beautiful vistas. Not busy at all, it makes for an excellent & peaceful outing. Highly recommended!
