OK we went with friends for walk around the lake and to have a look what its all about. It was nice to have different view on the city an its popular with people doing jogging. There is place where you can rent Swan pedal boats and navigate the lake.

Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas is a natural lake in contact in the ocean by a canal coming from Ipanema beach. The water is not very clear but for water sports is the place in Rio. From the lake we can see "Corcovado" and "Tijuca" nature park and his mountains. There are some restaurants near the sports center and at Horse... More

You'll get a nice view of some Mountains including Corcovado from an inner spot of Río de Janeiro but it's just an upper class neighborhood with closed buildings so it's kinda boring. There's not much to do other than walk around. You can't bath in the lake -not allowed and the water is not very clean-.

Bad bit out the way first - sadly this lake is not nice for swimming, but everybody hopes and prays that one day it will be cleaner. As scenery goes, however, it´s amazing. Best to hire a bike and cycle around the whole lake and stop at a kiosk or two for a drink. On the way round there are... More

Nice place with a lovely view, this lake is located in the heart of zona sul. Theres a path where cyclists share the same space with pedestrians. It is a nice option for a walk or jogging. To ride a bike is a bit complicated due to the amount of people walking. The issue is its safety. The place looks... More

A beautiful lake surrounded by the most popular neighborhoods of Rio. Nice for biking, walking, having a drink at happy hour time, a postcard. Be really careful with the pickpockets around. We never know... Enjoy it!

I live here, so I am very suspect, but despite this fact... is one of the best place in Rio to run, to bike, to play soccer, tennis, to walk around, to relax, to contemplate nature and beautiful people, to drink, to eat, to hang out! And, as located in the heart of the South Zone neighbourhood, you can quickly... More

It looked fantastic from Christ the Redeemer so we decided to walk around it. This takes longer than you might imagine but is well worth it if you have the time or if you are going to the botanical gardens which are close by.

We joined the free walking tour of Copacabana and Ipanema, which ended here at R. Freitas Lake. We had a simple picnic here and had nice views of the sunset over the lake. There are restaurants nearby so you can get some refreshments and food after a long day of sightseeing.

A good place to spend a lazy afternoon... There are so many things to do in the place... The locals are there to jog, bike or do yoga... You can stay there to take in the view, take pictures, ride a bike as well (there are rentals), or have a cold sip in 1 of the 2 places around...
