We did this tour as a Christmas present, and would really like to thank Tom for the experience! Took us to new areas, tried various Brazilian foods and drinks, and had a general great day out. Not only that, but he tells you unexpected little things about the city and its culture. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting or recently... More

We booked this tour for our first full day in Rio - an excellent decision. Was a Saturday, so got to start the tour a little later in the morning. Tom was an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate guide. We experienced so many different aspects of Brazilian food and drink culture as well as many scenic aspects of Rio and how... More

This was a great way to spend a day. Tom has really good contacts for getting the most out of food in Rio. There was a variety of places we stopped, we got some history and culture along the way, and we ate very well. Highly recommend as one of the things you do in Rio. You will try food... More

My husband and I had 2 days in Rio at the beginning of our honeymoon. I heard about Tom's tours through a friend who had been. We had an overnight flight that got us into Rio at 8am and we booked the tour at 11am. We were a little nervous that we would be too tired, but after the first... More

Tom clearly loves the city and the food and loves sharing this with foreigners. He made adjustments depending on food allergies or preferences. He also introduced various areas and how to use the metro. A great way to begin a visit to Rio.

Where to begin?!? This tour was brilliant! Tom put on a extra tour for our group as we were racing at the Rio Olympics and the rest were already booked. It was incredible, fantastic food, beautiful scenery, and great history. Excellent value for money, i really cannot recommend this enough. Thank you Tom, this was an unforgettable experience!

Typically, when one thinks of Brazilian cuisine, inevitably, visions of being stuffed full of meat served off of come to mind. Tom accepts this, but also opens your palate to a world of other types of regional Brazilian cuisines on his Eat Rio Food tour. The six hour tour takes you to farmers markets, street carts, bars, and restaurants to... More

Tom runs an amazing food tour. He brings both a local's and a traveler's perspective together. The tour is well paced; you never get too stuffed because you split food up among group members, and you keep alternating between waking and learning and eating! In addition to the local restaurants and food stands, you see the arches, steps, metro, and... More

I am mostly a food and drink tourist anywhere I travel. Tom's thoughtful, entertaining, accessible and completely delicious tour of Rio's hidden gems will be one of the best days you spend in the city. You'll learn some food and drink history, some culture and probably make some friends.

Tom the tour guide took us on a fun adventure through a local food market as well as several local restaurants. It was both entertaining and educational as we learned about various Amazonian fruits and their attributes in which we would NEVER have tried all alone. We met others from around the globe making it a cultural learning experience for... More
