Neighbourhood: Ipanema
Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.

This is a small and nice park between Copacabana and Ipanema. During the day it seems safe, but during the evening you better avoid it.

A park that has direct access to Arpoador beach. It was local holiday and we didn't really explore the park, other than to the beach, where was packed.

There isn't much to see in this park except for a few playground equipment and exercise stations. The entire park has a solid sand floor which is very uninviting, though a few grassy areas can be had here and there. Seating is plentiful via a low perimeter wall that is shaded in most areas with quite a few trees. Other than that, most people use this park as access onto Ipanema Beach from the main road.

We walked about a mile from our beach setup and landed at this part of the beach. There are a lot of vendors here that have some great value to them. I watched the sunset here with a bunch of people. It was absolutely beautiful. We also saw a tourist get pulled by the current of the ocean. So beware!

We walked through this little park with the intention of cutting up and over from Ipanema beach to Copacobana but had to turn back halfway as it was getting very dangerous with people hanging about up to no good.

This small park is between Arpoador and the Ipanema area. It has a small kids play area but it looked rather sketchy in the daytime.

We used it as a shortcut to get to the Copacabana area.

This was a lucky find on our walk along the beaches of Rio.
Park Garota was an oasis between Copacobana and Ipanena beaches and a pleasant change of atmosphere. Definitely worth going.

Cute locals park leading to Arporador, the best place to watch the sunset in Rio. It's got trees and shade for summer, and often vendors selling drinks for cheap. There's a small playground, blacktop (where street performers often meet and practice standing on stilts, etc.) and grassy area. It's fenced off but has openings for the beach access, so tends to feel a little more closed off and safe. It has the best access to Arporador, leading you straight to the rock to go see the sunset. Or, turn the corner and you'll head back to Ipanema.

Park provides a shortcut from the end of the beach back to the main road. We took it at twilight last night but must admit it didn't feel particularly safe and certainly wouldn't do it after dark.

The nature and trees there have different and admiring format, The park is calm, not big and peaceful. I just wonder why the city does not take care of it to reflect its name, that refers to a beautiful girl.
