Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I took the hour long tour from the centre Cultural Usina Do Gasometro in the boat #10. It was a good price 15 Reais, and a very pleasant way to spend an hour. We cruised around the various Islands and you could see first the fishing villages, then the summer homes, and then some more natural areas with nice views of the Port of Porto Alegre.

Is an iconic place in Porto Alegre that any tourist should walk and go to the restaurants around the Guaiba River because IS the the "lake" of the city. But I Don't like the color of the water.

The Guaiba Lake (called by the locals "Guaiba River") is in fact a huge estuary bathing several miles of Port Alegre. The sunset over the water is stunning all year round. The recently renovated Guaiba Shore, near the old power plant (the "Gasômetro") is very lively on weekends, and has several attractions. A few dozen miles down South there are clean beaches, where bathing is allowed (check for Itapuã). But there are many nice spots where to appreciate the lake/river: the Ipanema beach stretch with bars and restaurants, the old harbour (currently, access is somewhat limited, but there is a study for its renovation as a tourist attraction), and the Pontal do Estaleiro, a park and pier being finalized.

A vast waterbody, with several Porto Alegre attractions located on its shore, like Iberê Camargo Foundation, or very close to it, like Mario Quintana Cultural House and the historical district. Quick one-hour boat trips offer a special way of enjoying the Guaíba, the wildlife on its islands and its beautiful sunsets. Boats can be boarded in front of the Mercado Publico in the historical district or from the Usina do Gasômetro pier; longer "happy hour" tours are particularly pleasant during summertime.

From July on, the first phase of Guaiba Renewal Riverfront Project was complete and it looks really beautiful, A great place to practice sports, watch amazing sunsets or just unburden oneself with the stress of daily life

It is beautiful lake looking from distance but once you are on the water you quickly realise how polluted the river is. Real shame as it is perfect place to unwind around the lake and watch the sunset.

Porto Alegre is not a touristic city, but if you been everywhere, you can try a stroll by the lake on a sunday afternoon. Don't even bother to bring a watch, though. Keep a low profile.

The river side it is very well maintained so it is ideal for a long and relax walk close to the river. The weather can be a bit unpredictable so be aware of that while you take that long walk around the river.

This River view as not what I was expecting but a wonderful spot to feel like a local and watch the sunset from a beach side bar. Parking was easy and drinks local!
