Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's cool to learn about the history of the city's founders. The space is preserved, including the Garden, but I recommend that anyone with respiratory allergies wear a good mask. I smelled a lot of mold/storage when I entered the museum and had an allergic attack. The employees who explain the museum are knowledgeable about the history of the Blumenau family and were fundamental in understanding the city's beginnings.

Probably a highlight of Blumenau (other than the German Biergarten area) but mostly for history buffs who enjoy seeing what life must have been like in the 1920's for an upper middle class family. The best part is the garden with a bizarre cat sculpture and even more bizarre cat cemetery. Oh, and there's a Manneken Pis (naked boy urinating into the fountain) statue like in Brussels.

Entrance fee is very cheap, the museum is small and simple but worth the visit. Ask for an intern to guide you through the museum, or for the audio guide.

In some way an interesting museum but with no organization or professional information. The ticket is about 5 Reais. Ask for the audio guide when you enter in the museum.

Went here as a stop on a cruise ship tour. Not much to see, small venue is crowded when there with a group. The adjoining cat cemetary is a novelty.

Blumen Esau is situated about 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive North of Porto Belo depending on traffic which can be heavy. The house is about 100+ years old and was built by what we would today call an upper middle class family. It is a 2 storey house but you can only look at the downstairs rooms which have been furnished in the period. It takes about 15 minutes to go around and is hardly worth the trouble.

This is the place where you can see how life was in the old Blumenau, when the immigrants came here in 1850 (and the years thereafter).

This to me is the museum to visit in Blumenau. It tells you 'all' about the place itself while also capturing that quirkiness that at least made us travel to Blumenau: it being a German enclave with decidedly German looking Brazilians and a distinct take on German food Brazilian style. It's a small museum, with a couple of rooms, and a cute little park in the back that for many will actually be its highlight. Did I mention cat statue? Nope, guess not. Well it has a statue of a cat in the back. Go selfie!

Entrance is 10 reais and there is a guide who accompanies you telling the history of the three properties where you can visit. The visit takes between 30 minutes and an hour, I recommend the tour for anyone who likes history.
