Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was an excellent stop to reinforce the history of this amazing island. The Portuguese built the fort on the northern end of Santa Catarina Island in the 1740s. It’s well maintained and absolutely worth visiting for the views! It’s a national landmark and there’s an entry fee (unless your over 60).

Most people visit Florianopolis for the beautiful beaches of Santa Catarina. There is some history, this is one of the spots. Closeby Jurere Internacional. It nice to have a look around, but don’t expect much. It also doesn’t cost a lot, so if you’re in the neighbourhood, just drop by for a short visit.

Unlike many other historical sites in Brasil this seventh century fortress is very well preserved. Credits are to be done in favor of the Federal University of Santa Catarina that is in charge of maintaining this beautiful site charging the merely US$ 2.00 per visitor. There are not many pieces of artefacts and there is a lack of information. But the general preservation helps the mind to flow back in time and try to fill in the gaps of information with your own imagination as if you were an archaeologists rediscovering the site after many years of abandonment. The fortress is a part of three military stations positioned in a triangular configuration to protect the entry of the northern bay in the sound of Santa Catarina island were the city of Florianópolis is located. As a complementary feature the views of the surrounding stone walls over the blue seas reminded me of the archeological site in Tulum, Mexico. It is definitely a place to visit. My suggestion: take along your swimsuit because there is a pristine little beach right beside the fortress.

As I like to say, the best way to know a place is knowing its history, in this case, the Fortress is good option to know more about the local history. It provides a good landscape and a very pleasant time as well. It is just besides Jurere beach (you can see the beach from the fortress). The place is not huge, but is very well preserved...it deserves a visit for sure I'm my opinion. The entrance is paid (do not remember how much, but its cheap). I hope I have helped.
A entrada e paga (nao me lembro quanto, mas e barato). Espero ter ajudado.

Good nature area. You can go by car or just walking from the left side of jurere beach. You have to walk in stone sidewalk until you find the fort, if you like you can go down and find the beach underneath

One of the most beautiful places I visited in Florianopolis. On a sunny day, the photos look very beautiful! Access can be made by a small beach next to the fort or through a small parking lot on the access road to the place.

This is one of the old fortress build during the first Portuguese settlement in the Island of Florianópolis - formerly known as Desterro. Though the place is mostly well kept, and have signs explaining the history as well as displays of old cutlery and army itens, the explanations can only be seen in Portuguese. If you don't know the language, take a friend as an interpreter, or just enjoy the scenery and visual experience. It's worth a visit anyway.
Oh, although it is a payed attraction it is very cheap and the money goes towards maintenance.

See title since apart from its interesting construction and Outlook over the entrance of the bay, there is really nothing special to mention (about 8 Rs entrance fee)
