Hippies live here year round with no bathrooms. It stinks and is contaminated. The trails are slippery, unmaintained and dangerous at night for attacks. No cell reception, so you are alone in the case of an emergency. Locals will lie to you about everything. Do. not. go.

Lagoinha do Leste is the only beach which only can be reached by trails and not by car. It's the hidden treasure of the island. Take the trouble of the trails and you'll get rewarded - that's a promise!
So what do you get? here are the essential ingredients: adventurous trails, Atlantic rainforest, sweat, views, Robinson Crusoe, beach, water, waves, climbing, thrill.
How to get there
We've started at Porto da Lagoa where we stayed at the best AirBnB accommodation you could simply imagine. From there it's a 30 min drive (20kms) down to Pantano. You can also start at Matadeiro but from there it is a 2,5 hours walk. We've parked the car at one of the public "Estacionamentos" (10 reais for a day). The trail begins right in front of an old hostel. You take the very first road on your left if you come from the direction of Armacao. Walk 200m up the road and on your left is the beginning (watch the sign "Trilha").
Be prepared
Don't do this hike when it's raining or it has rained the day before! The trail is not a real hiking trail its more a path through courses of stream and you feel like being in the Amazonas. Therefore please wear closed shoes (no Havaianas) and take 2 liters of water with you even if you start early in the morning when it's not so warm. At the beach you won't find any shops, toilets, garbage cans or anything else - it's wilderness pure. Please take mosquito repellents and sunscreen, food and garbage bags with you and of course - YOUR CAMERA and BEACHWEAR!
Trilha Lagoinha do Leste
From the very beginning you know that this hike won't be a Sunday trip. The path goes up through rainforest, stoney and slippery for about half an hour before you go downwards. We've only met a few people on the track. One of them had quite some problems because of the big steps. So if you are not the fittest one please note that you'll need more than 90 minutes to reach the beach. We've made it in 90 mins and it's quite impressive if you hear the water coming closer and closer while walking down the trail to the beach.
The Beach
At the end of the trail you reached one of the wildest beaches I've ever seen. It's amazing extensive, the waves are ensnare the sand and crash against the rocks. No music, no beach boys, no cars, no boats, just some stranded hikers with wanderlust.
Near the beach is the lagoon where you can also take a bath in warm and calm water. Although we've hiked enough as we were sitting in the sand we decided to climb up the southern hill (altitude: 230m), called Morro das Coroas. It's a one way trail so please keep in mind that you have to go down the same way. To get to the Morros top you definitely have to climb at some parts. It takes 30 mins to go up and is absolutey dangerous when it rains. We were almost at the top but then it started to drip and before getting in really big trouble we've decided to go down after taking some pictures.
All in all it is absolutely worth it and one of the best day trips you can do on Florianopolis. But please do it as a day trip not only for a gap filler as we did. The views and the atmosphere are too great to leave them too soon. Do it and you won't forget this hike!!

There were too much for me. I actually am from America and live in Florianopolis for 5 months as exchange student.
*Warning*
I recommend you use the shoes for hiking because it will take an hour to hike to arrive the beach.
-no car parking
-no restaurant
-no water
So I suggest you bring your own food, water and others
There is no lifeguard at all.
* On your own RISK!!!!!!
*please do not try to jump off from cliff*. It's not safe 100%
The waves go crazy! It's perfect for surfers.
There was not really much people around.
It is beautiful and natural!!

we had a great day doing the hikes! we did the shorter one (reported to be 1.5 hours) to the beach, and the longer one (reported to be 2.5 hours) back to Matedeiro beach. the reviews we read beforehand were NOT accurate in my opinion. we loved both of them, but i just want to give my opinion on the difficulty levels and time it takes to do the treks! the shorter trek took us 50 minutes (we were stomping it though!) and it is uphill steps for about 40 minutes, and then down steps for about 10 minutes to the beach. it was hard walking up the steps yes, but i read this was the harder trek of the 2 which in my opinion is not correct. we chilled on the beach after the shorter trek, then proceeded to do the longer one - this took us 1.5 hours but again we walked non-stop. this was much more difficulty! to start the trail you climb up rocks for quite a while which was tiring, great view when you reach the top! there is lots and lots of ups and downs the whole way, so it is not flat as we read on reviews! it wasn't really really difficult, but it was definitely not easy which is what we head read online. both walks were great and i highly recommend doing both of them! we started walking around 11am and got to Matadeiro beach (which is lovely) at around 2.30pm - such a good day out!

Amazing view, worth the effort. Don't start to late to completely enjoy the trip. Great beach, not for people that get tired easily.

I went to this beautiful beach 2 days ago and I'm still dreaming of the moment I was there. You need to take two buses to get there. One to rio tavares and the next to pantano de sol which also stops at armacao. If you get off ay armacao then you need to walk on the coast and pass matadeiro beach. Once you get to the end of the beach the trail will begin. This trail is a little longer then the other one but its definitely a less intense and more beautiful trail. I enjoyed every moment of it. The lagoon behind the beach is worth a visit. It is so tranquil and so untouched. Its really a magical place. Bring lots of food and water, you will probably want to spend the entire day there. I also climbed up the mountain to the right of the beach which has unique rocks for some amazing pictures. If you have the energy I reccomend to do it all. Both hikes, beach, lagoon, rock mountain. Ill post some pictures so you can see for yourself!

It really depends on the kind of camper you are. If you are typical Brazilian who is "camping" but wants a warm shower and night and a kitchen to cook, this is NOT it. This is a great beach that you can only access through hiking or boat. So we hiked and came back by boat. There is nothing there, no stores, no houses, so you need to make sure you bring all you may need. Just really cool place for a luau and some fun, because there are no nosy unhappy neighbors!

This beach was voted one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Brazil. It is only on foot - about 2 hour hike through a thick forest and then moudown some cliffs from Praia Armacao, or you can go from the other side and here the hike is shorter. Regardless, the beach is spotless, mostly because not many people come here as it is fairly inaccessible. There are many campers in the forests nearby, and also a laguna where the water is still and very warm. This is a definite must if you are in Florianopolis

Serious Hike bring your water and do NOT do it in sandals. Great photos to be had. Nice remote beach. This is a must do down in Floripa.

Obg

Realmente, vale cada andada! Pra mim é a melhor praia de Floripa.
Written 27 February 2020

Oi Ana! Fizemos essa semana. Fomos pelos Matadeiro. A vista é incrível!

Obrigada.
