Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took the funicular railway to the top of Mount Serrat and went round the old Casino. Some fabulous views across the city on all sides. It is worth the effort to go to the second floor where the views are even better.

For R$18 a piece, we were able to go up Monte Serrat. From here, there is a great view of the city and port. There is a nice building, as well as a picturesque church. Definitely a fun way to spend an hour.

I thought this attraction was pretty poor. I'll explain why -

- The cost to use the tram to go and down up is huge! $23R!! More than my lunch that day! Considering it's only about 150m I would have walked had it been possible. I've been on cable cars and trams that go more than 20 times that distance but cost a fraction.

- The view isn't actually that good. You get a good view of the 'bad' side of Santos. A horrible port and horrible buildings. Being high up is the only benefit. It's like being over a big peak in the UK....overlooking somewhere like Hull. Quite a lot of smog too.

- The other side is a bit nicer, looking towards the beach area but bear in mind it's a long way away and all you can really see are the large buildings.

Really wish i'd saved my money.

this atraction is a must visit if you go to santos, it provides a wonderful place to take photos, if you go ask the people there to go into the engine room, it's pretty amazing

What a great experience was this! It was the first time for me in Santos and had no idea what we where going to do. But when I saw it I was so excited. It was weird but amazing feeling going up and down.
The view you see is so beautiful to see of Santos. Thank you!

A nice way up and a lovely view once there. But at the top there isnt much to do and the area is rather shabby. If not part of a group, you might end up in a large queue to purchase tickets, so if possible, purchase prior.

In a rather shabby area of town, the funicular offers easy access to views over the city. There is little to do at the top but still worth a visit. Senior rates are available. If there is a cruise ship in, the tour operators feel they should have preferential treatment, don't be bullied by them - the staff are happy to let you through!

It's a really nice place to visit. You get to check it out a panoramic view of Santos City. Up there used to work a casino (since a long time ago it's forbidden in Brazil). It's kind of expensive to eat up there, so, do it before or after.

Take a funicular up the side of Monte Serrat to the old Casino and get a great view of all of Santos from old town to the beach area. Visit the historic church and have a cool breeze before heading back down.
