The area

Neighbourhood: Bela Vista
Known for its Italian cantinas, Bela Vista is the place to go for great pasta. Also called “Bixiga”, the area is an important cultural part of the city, with the bohemian and the religious costumes of its inhabitants on full display. In August, the large Nossa Senhora Achiropita party fills the streets with a variety of Italian food and music. You can experience the liveliness of the neighbourhood walking through the antiquities fair at Dom Orione Square or visiting the “Brazilian Caminito”, a version of the Argentinian street complete with colorful buildings. Bela Vista is also home to the traditional samba school “Vai-Vai”. Buy a ticket to a rehearsal and get a taste of what Carnival is like.

I was at the restaurant on Saturday, August 3. Me and my wife. We arrived early, about 12:10hs and the space was quite quiet. On her suggestion, who had already had lunch there, I ordered a dish called 'Setto Yakizakana'. Typical dish that looks like an Obento, consisting of rice, grilled anchova, missoshiro and a few more things. I also ordered a sausage soda (for R$ 16.00!). The dish took about 20 minutes to come. Unfortunately, the only thing that provided was the grilled anchova, which was perfect and tasty. However, this dish costs R$ 75.00, which is absurdly high for the very poor quality delivered to the table. Let's see! The rice was simply scary. No salt, no spice and no sauce to make it minimally pleasant. It was unsaturated rice. Pure carbohydrate. For 'accompanying', a micro-plate was delivered with a few pieces of cooked potatoes, in a very bad sauce, a slice of parsley in cubes and a micro-micro-salad of leaves (only leaves, ok!). My wife was shocked and told me that the restaurant used to serve much more food on that same dish months ago! What you see is a place that only wants to bill and to the stratosphere, because everything there is very, very expensive. Probably, the gallery that goes to this restaurant is more interested in going to Instagram lock and be seen than to actually have a lunch that is compatible with the very high rates charged. It's much better to spend all that money at some restaurant abroad, and that's what I'll do from now on. A shame, as the place is beautiful, but it is ridiculous of so expensive. Oh, those Japanese, you see! They're more concerned about exfoliating than delivering. São Paulo, Capital, has become an intractable environment in general. All very expensive and very low quality. Incompatible with what they ask for in terms of money. The Brazilians of today have no idea what our money can still buy elsewhere and in other countries. Japan House, just say one thing: SAYONARA!! Never again!

It's the second time in less than a year that I've been to Japan House and once again it was a wonderful experience! This time, there was an exhibition of miniatures and toys. I really like the division of space at Japan House and I think that, even though it is not the largest of spaces, it is used appropriately, including the stores and restaurant divisions. Everything is well organized, clean and safe. While we were at the other exhibition, the guided tour of the toy exhibition began, I ended up taking part of it and I think what they offer is really cool and different. I will come back more often to learn more about Japanese culture!

Robots never before seen in Brazil, at the exhibition in January 2024. Take your children! Very educational.

Furthermore, on the top floor, an exhibition on the ritual of drinking tea in Japan.

Oh, and there is a Japanese restaurant on the same floor, open to the public.

A good trip for those taking a stroll along Avenida Paulista, but don't expect much. It has a gallery that always has a cool exhibition, but it's just one room, so it ends up happening quickly. There is a space with items to buy and a café, but on the weekends it is always full, so even if you wanted to, you might not be able to try something there.
Go to the bathroom, the toilet is technological lol

It always has some exhibition of the Japanese culture, so it's worth seeing. There's room for a quick coffee. Attentive attendees and the building with a modern architecture had its best days. It is worth taking a walk in the shop as the items are typical in addition to Japanese books.

A very interesting place, nice architecture, very open area. We went there to see the miniature exhibition and the kids loved it . There is a Japanese library inside and a small cafe. The souvenir shop is expensive, but with nice stuff.

Free, amazing and in the perfect place. Located right at the beginning of Av. Paulista, it has a facade architecture that camouflages all its minimalist beauty. Always with really cool exhibitions, it has two wonderful stores, selling books, objects and clothes, and a beautiful restaurant. Three floors of discoveries and a soul filled with culture.

Always a pleasure walking into a place displaying things Japanese. Lots of cute miniatures depicting various scenes. The shop had gorgeous fabrics and bags, a little pricey though. A delightful hour or so.

Despite the 20-minute queue we had to wait in, it was worth it.
There are many representations of everyday places using Japanese cuisine.
Also on the upper floor there is an exhibition of several well-known Japanese toys, which will bring back great memories.
The architecture of the building is very beautiful.

Very airy place , beautiful and lighted . Interesting exhibition that fits well with the Japanese goods store and the bar-style coffee shop.
We had extremely tasty and refreshing drinks . Excellent service in all environments from the entrance. I recommend the walk. Go in time to absorb plenty of the culture, tasting liquors and books. Space to sit.
