In my opinion, although the Obelisk is an important landmark in the city, it does not justify a visit on its own. However, it is easily spotted if you visit Ibirapuera Park. But it is nice to see an Obelisk, wherever you are. Isn’t it?

The Obelisk is an important landmark of São Paulo, but does not warrant a visit on its own. If you go to Ibirapuera Park you will see it and by right by it. There is a masoleum below it - but you can't go in unless you are family.

A lot of grass and the landmark. You can drive by it.

It is a scenic point of interest near Ibirapuera Park. Iluminated duringbthe night it resembles the monument on 9 of July Ave in Buenks Aires, and the other in Washington, DC. Used to have a museum below it in honor of some SP revolution heroes. I don't know if it is still open but the best way to enjoy it... More

Staying in Ibirapuera

Neighbourhood Profile
Ibirapuera Park, the highlight of this neighbourhood, is a family-friendly area to have a picnic, relax, play sports, exercise or appreciate art. It gets crowded during the weekends and is a popular leisure destination for residents. Its 1,584 square kilometers holds three lakes, two museums and several other cultural spaces. The park hosts a variety of events throughout the year, such as free music concerts and a water and light show celebrating the holidays at the end of the year. There are two important monuments to visit, the Obelisk and the Flag Monument. Ibirapuera is a perfect escape!
