The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Vila Madalena
Visit Vila Madalena by day for its galleries and alternative stores. Visit by night for a busy nightlife scene with numerous bars and cafes. There is a nice variety of restaurants, featuring many vegetarian and organic options. Every Saturday, Vila Madalena's main streets close for a big street market where you can find fresh vegetables and fruits for sale along with crafts. In the summer rainy season, the streets can flood, but that doesn’t take away from the sparkle of this unique area.

Today was the third time I've been to this famous little square. Very peaceful, if you want to read a book, meditate, rest under some rare trees there, take your pets for a walk, take the children to play in the playground. It is completely surrounded by a fence, has selective collection, as today is Carnival Tuesday, some vendors were selling water and other drinks. I also saw an açaí seller there and a neighborhood security guard who took a walk around the square just to see what was going on. The only negative point is that the younger crowd, who are from the alternative scene, practically sit there exchanging “some ideas” with their group and smoking a joint, I think for those who don't like it (like me) it can be a little uncomfortable, because depending on where you want to sit, the smell of smoke comes. Furthermore, it's worth the trip, the sunset there is really beautiful to see.

Its a small park at the top of a hill. It gives you an overall view of Sao Paulo with sunset. Its a nice place to visit and take in a few beers whilst the sun goes down. A relaxing place away from the hustle of Sampa.

You can sunset from other places such as "Edifício Itália" which has a great 360 degree view and a restaurant. However The sunset square has a different ambiance and view and worth to try it if you have enough time.

Make sure you get there about 1 hours before the sunset to find a nice place to seat and enjoy.

Pros:
- Great view of the city
- Nice atmosphere
- You can have your drink while watching the sunset and have a view of the city
- Close to Vila Madalena so you can go to nice restaurants / bars after sunset

Cons:
- People do not keep clean the place
- Sometimes the sky is not clear and cloudy so no sunset, specially in spring
- Not close to Paulista Avenue, in case you are staying in that area.

It used to be a great spot to go with children and watch the sunset. Unfortunately, a lot of people also go there to smoke pot while watching the sunset nowadays, chances of getting robbed are higher and there are lots of people having sex inside their cars at night. However, the sunset from there is still beautiful and worth watching. Just be careful.

I walked from the Vila Madalena station - completely safe, but quite a few steep hills (that's São Paolo for you!). It took longer than I anticipated, about 30 mins, almost missed the sunset! Equally you can take a taxi to Praça Pôr do Sol.

There's a nice grassy hill to watch the sunset from. A nice spot to take a picnic and sit, equally pretty at day and night. It gives a 180 degree view of city.

This park offers and great view of the city and a quiet setting. It was nice to just sit here for a while, enjoy the breeze, and relax after a busy day of touring and driving through the busy streets.

It's getting more and more popular, so there's more people there these days, but at the same time everyone is calm there. You can relax and even pretend your not in São Paulo. You see lots of trees covering the houses in front and the building are far away. It's a great spot to have a drink and a chat with your friends, couple or whoever.
