Topped by a purple-and-burgundy-striped conversation piece of a skyscraper at the north pole of Faria Lima, the cultural center named after a renowned Japanese-Brazilian artist (whose son designed the building) features a rotating schedule of visual art exhibitions, including award-winning photography, avant-garde sculptures, and even decorative cachaça bottle labels. The institute is, quite simply, one of the city's best art venues.

This modern and contemporary art Institute is one of the visits in Sao Paulo you can not miss! Artists from different parts of the globe expose here, like Yoko Ono along with brazilian ones. Cheap and a pleasant sight for the afternoon promenade.

It was very quiet when we visited one morning in January 2016. There was a very interesting exhibition going on which also had a film by Ray Eames. It has a couple of great shops inside that sell local artisan pieces too. I really loved...More

Went there for a lazy Sunday stroll. Not disappointed. The exhibition was well laid out and in English. The initial exploration of the mondernist movement provided sufficient contextual background to Gaudi and his works. Interesting and educative. Worth the $R 12.00 admission fee for the...More

Arrived too late to spend enough time but thoroughly enjoyed the great Gaudi exhibit. What an amazing genius.

The Institute offers a wonderful external and internal aesthetic experience. The architecture is extravagant and exciting but at the same time intensely practical. The exhibition spaces are relatively small and intimate and there is an excellent restaurant. I saw the Gaudi Barcelona exhibition which was...More

Be alert to know what is on exhibition and on the scene or just go by the region for a walk and eat in the inner restaurant
