Neighbourhood: Sé
Sé, which derives its name from Sé Square, is a central neighbourhood in historic São Paulo. Close by, the Law School, the Museum of the Court of Justice and the Metropolitan Cathedral offer inspiring architecture. If you are looking for cultural activities, head to Caixa Cultural and check the schedule. In the area there is a popular pedestrian street called “Rua Direita”, one of the first streets in the region, which today marks the crowded perimeter. Sé is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Praça da Sé lies in front of São Paulo Cathedral. It is a beautiful, and fairly well maintained park. Nice monuments Much safer here than Praça Republica.

It is unbelievable why they allow all these homeless people lie around in the central square cooking their food in open fires and playing with homeless dogs. The cathedrals on the square is great but overall the feeling is not comfotable

This is a very interesting point to visit in Sao Paulo. Take the subway is way easier than drive, take a cab or bus. Stop at the Se station and walk the the surface. You will find the old church that worth the visit because of its architectural value. The square in front of the church has the 0 point that indicates the distance to N,S,W and E states in Brazil. Be aware that this place is very dirty and full of homeless, so you need to be careful and watch your surroundings.

If you want pretty photos of Sao Paulo, the square in front of the cathedral is your place! It's beautiful! Marvellous. With all these palm trees.

Not sure why you would want to hang about here much as im sure you have all got homeless people to look at at home. Perhaps because here its on a whole different level. Turn right out of the metro station towards the Cathedral and enter a world of limping scuffling limbless groaning souls plaintively wailing out to passers by "amigo amigo". People lying everywhere , what you think is a pile of rubbish is probably a person, or at least whats left of one. God bless em all, who knows what the future holds for anyone but I wouldnt want my mine to leave me here. Avoid, its sad. depressing and a little unnerving.

The Se Square is beautifully done and well kept. Surrounded by stunning architecture you are bound to enjoy it.
The only thing I'd add is that this part of the city tends to attract a lot of shady characters so please beware.

The neigborhood is not that much to see. I was unsure if there was supposed to be shopping, bars or restaurants. Maybe it was a financial district, because I don't remember wanting to enter anything on any street.

Place is beautiful and revitalized!
Besides the police is increasingly strengthened, I also noticed the strong presence of line in the region, improving considerably what was once an abandoned place!
