About
Consolidating its presence in São Paulo, the most important cultural scene in Brazil, IMS opened its new address in September 2017: 2424 Paulista Avenue, sprawling over seven double-height stories. In addition to the exhibitions spaces, with over 1,200 sq. mts., IMS Paulista also offers a cine-theater – for film screenings, musical events, lectures and debates –, a photography library, classrooms, a book shop, a cafe and a restaurant.

The area

Neighbourhood:
Sé, which derives its name from Sé Square, is a central neighbourhood in historic São Paulo. Close by, the Law School, the Museum of the Court of Justice and the Metropolitan Cathedral offer inspiring architecture. If you are looking for cultural activities, head to Caixa Cultural and check the schedule. In the area there is a popular pedestrian street called “Rua Direita”, one of the first streets in the region, which today marks the crowded perimeter. Sé is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.
How to get there

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The IMS is a relatively new place in São Paulo. It is a very tall building with a nice coffee below and another one on a superior floor. The expositions had two floors with very educative information and IMS staff ready to answer questions of the visitors. Some expositions might be more contemplative while others might require the visitor to take actions. Entrance is free and I highly recommend you book your visit in advance.

A modern building with different floors exposing photos, paints, modern art, bookstore, restaurant and located in the financial avenue of São Paulo. Strong recommended to visit on Sundays when Avenida Paulista is closed for car traffic and dedicated only to walkers.

This institute is dedicated to the visual arts, with temporary exhibits and cinema series. The building itself is interesting for a casual meeting, a coffee or taking a nice picture from Paulista avenue down below. Most exhibits are free. It has a coffee shop, a small book store and a restaurant.

IMS used to have a very small location in São Paulo, and they've recently opened this all-new building in Paulista. It's a very special place for the arts: it includes three levels of beautiful exhibition spaces with always amazing exhibitions, a cinema with a great program, a café, a bookstore and a really cool view of the avenue. Not to mention the library, which specializes in Photography.
