We admired the city from all over the breathtaking views over the city and colored houses built on hill.We enjoyed the views of Trapezitsa Fortress, located across the river Yantra. Medieval atmosfera floating in the air, helped us to imagine tragic or glorious events experienced by the city, which once had defensive role.

A lot of things must be improved. You can faind explination în Bulgarian, Russian and German. Not in English. The top church is in fact a secular monument of Bulgaria rebirth. Night light show is not performer on daily basis, at least în not december. Chick the internet for the program.

Well worth a visit for an insight into Bulgaria's past. Lovely to walk around & Great views. the restored monastery with modern communist art is something completely different & fascinating. You will either love it or hate it...

This is a good place to spend some time just strolling around and looking at the sites. Plan on spending a few hours here to get the full beauty.

Autumn seemed to fit Tsaravets Fortress perfectly. The abundance of colors gave the fortress a more dramatic appearance and while wandering on its grounds I could not stop wondering about the events taking place during the centuries. Being up on the hill gave me a panoramic view and lots of things to reflect upon.

I love fortresses, and this is a nice one! It's quite large and you can spend a few hours exploring different parts. Some is restored while some isn't. There are very nice views from various places in the fortress. The only negative to me was the modern art within the church. Too bad it doesn't represent the time of the... More

The Tsarevets fortress is situated on a hill of the same name that is situated in a bend of the Yantra River. The river almost wraps itself around the hill. The climb to the fortress is not very steep, as the town’s main road is also some distance above the river. The road that passes through the gates of the... More
