My father and I met Mark in Curico and were treated to a great 25-ish km tour through 3 different vineyards. We were offered many different wines to taste and were given a tour of a large winery. Then, at the top of a hill overlooking vineyards and a stable, Mark provided us with a delicious meal with yet another wine. A photographer came along and was very friendly, we were never pressured to purchase the photos or any other merchandise along the way. I highly recommend Alpaca Ciclismo - it's well worth it!

We were delighted by the tour Mark provided us.
As I am buying wine from "Las Puertas" in Belgium, I absolutely wanted to see where and how it is produced. And Mark prepared a tailor made tour to Palquibudy ( where the grapes grow ) and there after a visit to the premises of Vinedos Puertas ( where the wine is produced ). By lack of time we didn't take the bikes, so Mark showed us all by car and walking.

At CLP 64,000 (at current rates, USD $ 91) for two people, my wife and I can enthusiastically recommend the full-day private bicycle tour of the Curico Valley. We bicycled around 30km (always with breaks after generous tastings of maybe six wines), visited two wineries, enjoyed a delicious lunch, and even got to make use of a private pool set against a background of hillside vineyards.

My wife and I were staying at the nearby Mapuyampay Gastronomy Lodge and were referred to Mark by our hosts. Mark and his team are friendly and professional from start to finish. I have done many bicycle tours of countryside, vineyards, and cities but this was the best. His office has a secure parking space for your rental car. He provides full automobile support and offers tons of stuff you may have forgotten to bring (e.g. suntan lotion, water, granola bars, etc.). Moreover, we learned a lot from Mark about Curico and the wine region.

For an ex professional cyclist, he has become extremely knowledgeable about wines. The wineries we visited we small (mostly domestic consumption and Asian exporting) but interesting. The tours were in Spanish (which we generally understand) but Mark was able to seamlessly translate anything. The wines were not outstanding but were very drinkable and compared favorably to our tasting experiences at places in the Colchgua and Casablanca valleys. The staff were friendly and made us feel at home. There was no pressure to buy. Mark has clearly cultivated a good relationship with his business partners.

The riding was smooth and about 60% took place on or nearby the estates of wineries. The other 40% was on a lightly traveled local road with only one real uphill portion. We saw apple trees, kiwi trees, pine trees, fig trees, palm trees, blooming flowers, and cacti. Just amazing. The bikes were good quality.

Bottom Line: Real value for money. I really regret not booking additional riding tours with Alpaca Ciclismo. In fact, when we return to Chile, we plan to go on one of his multi-day trips. I felt like I was in good hands and that he would go out of his way to create a memorable trip.

My husband and I met Mark in Curico, we immediately drove to the Argentine border and were introduced to our bicycles! We enjoyed the mountainous terrain and we saw real Chilean cowboys! Our trip was arranged so that we were in each location for a couple of days, and each one was more interesting or better than the last! We were in the mountains one day, near the vineyards another day, resting in an hacienda another, and our bikes went with us everywhere. The accommodations were good to fantastic, as was the food. While I enjoyed kayaking and moderate biking and hiking, my husband loved to bike the tougher terrain with Mark, who was always gracious and tolerant of our wishes. This is a real biking experience, folks! if you like to bike, you will LOVE this trip!
Mark did an exceptional job of coordinating everything, so much so that we could relax and enjoy every minute without having to worry about reservations, permits, etc. We would love to do another trip with Mark!

My sisters and our husbands try to take a yearly trip together. We've been to Belize, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Mexico together. But we all agree that our trip to Curico, Chile, was the best trip ever!
Mark met us at the airport, and rode the train with us to Curico, and we immediately hopped on good quality bicycles and took off. The trip included stays at a vineyard with wine tasting, fly fishing on a beautiful river, and a mountain lodge with a side trip to hot springs in Argentina. We then stayed at a lovely old hacienda where we rode polo ponies up into the mountains and we finished the trip at the beach. Mark arranged all the stays and transportation, and it was flawless. The accommodations were in small locally owned boutique hotels where we met the owners, and often wined and dined with them. The food throughout the trip was great,
and the wine, well, lets just say we now drink Chilean wines!

The tour with Mark, owner of Alpaca Ciclismo, is GREAT! I really enjoyed my time. Starting for the first time I contacted him, until the end, I received an excellent service. First, I called him on a Sunday (day everything is closed, including office), Monday being the only day I could do the tour (my fault, being so last minute) and he accommodated me perfectly. He asked what I preferred doing and suggested me different tours according to what I wanted. We then setted the tour for the next day, so the fact he was so available made my stop in the small town of Curico amazing !!
The bicycles are good quality, and we did the tour where we stopped at Vina Puertas, about 15km away from the city. Good exercice, I am not a bicycle-fan but the route he took was easygoing and it was very enjoyable. On the vina we biked around it, so peaceful and interesting to see, being such a gigantic vineyard !
Mark is very friendly and it is DEFINITELY worth stopping over in Curico to do this tour.
