Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited may museums of with ancient artifacts and history on our three week tour of Chile. Small museums can be better. For example, the small museum in Vina del Mar with the statue of the Moai was well done and provided good insights into the various peoples of Chile. The good thing was that this museum was free.

I came here just expecting to see the Moai from Easter Island, take a look at everything else and leave, but this museum is filled with lots of interesting artifacts from across Chile, including wooden carvings from Easter Island, mummies from the Atacama, bones of the extinct American Horse that lived during the last Ice Age. At least I think it did. There wasn't a lot of English in here, but the objects alone are enough to hold your interest.

This museum is just the right balance, small enough to hold your interest and well laid out, lots of interesting things and especially the Moai from Easter Island, exciting to see it close up definitely worth a visit.

At the top of the street blocks away from the main square this neat free museum has many artifacts relating to first nation people and their migration around the area. There is also a Moai from Easter Island to view.

The museum is not big but it has a beautiful garden, and some interesting items like animal skins. The most attractive thing there is the display of moai. After I saw the Moai there, that make me more eager to see Easter Island. A good visit.

Incredible. The museum shows evidence of Diaguita culture, way of life, work and travel. In it remains the one of two sculptures of Moaí from Eastern Island (the other is in London, UK). It's takes one hour and a half to view everything.

We were going to fly to Salta, Argentina, to see the 3 mummies in their museum. Imagine our pleasant surprise to find a mummy in this nice museum. Although everything is in Spanish, the museum tells some fascinating stories and has a wide range of interesting artifacts. A further highlight is an Easter Island statue - your best chance to see one if you are not actually going to Easter Island. It's a great way to pass an idle hour in La Serena while your wife is shopping!

We were looking forward to visiting this Museum since booking our holiday; unfortunately most of the building was closed for restoration and renovation and we were only allowed entry to the "sample rooms" near the entrance. A few very interesting objects on display but we really would have preferred an alternative. Disappointed.

This museum is free to enter but 80% of it is undergoing a massive refurbishment at the moment so it's not really that exciting.
