We did this as a long day trip out of Santiago with AndoAndes, which was $100 USD/person. This was a good day trip, with some mild adventure, great scenery, and wine & cheese. Be prepared for significant crowds if you go on weekends or holidays.

We had a tiny (cheap) hire car & it was fine - but we did a fairly simple drive & we didn’t go off the main road/s If you are going to explore more off the roads then a 4wd would probably be useful
