Altiplano Expediciones is the passion project and business where my love for adventure and exploration comes to life. In the past, I made a living as an engineer, but, I have always been an avid explorer, traveler, mountaineer and cycle enthusiast at heart. This is why today I dedicate my life to this endless search for unexplored territory and new routes, so that I can share these experiences not only with loved ones or in solitude, but with other like-minded travelers who share this same passion as well. Altiplano Expediciones objective is to not only cherish beautiful landscapes with our guests and small groups, but furthermore, to explore geological, historical, cultural, and archaeological sites of interest as well, while at the same time participating in recreational and sporting activities.

I booked a 7-day tour with Jorge in November 23.
4 days in the Chilean Altiplano and 3 days in Bolivia.
The booking with Altiplano Travel was a complete success and a lot of fun.
Jorge is a walking encyclopaedia, he knows so much about the area, history and geology, he surprised me every day anew.
My wish was to see places that are not overrun by tourists, Jorge took me to places where we were completely alone with hundreds of flamingos in a tremendous landscape.
In addition, every day there was a fine meal with Chilean wine (I love Carmenere) in the most beautiful places.
If you want to experience the Altiplano without being jammed into a horde of tourists, then book your tour with Jorge, you won't be disappointed.
I was looking for a guide and found a friend.
Thanks for the time Jorge.

We booked a 4-day trip to Bolivia with Altiplano Expediciones. Jorge already organised an off the beaten track day tour for us the previous year, which went very well. For Bolivia we had a list of rather unusual places that we wanted to visit and be away from the tourist crowds as much as possible. Everything was organised perfectly to our wishes. Questions before the trip were always answered quickly and competently. Jorge also made some valuable suggestions of places that fit our subjects of interest and that we weren't aware of. Could not have been better.

Jorge is an amazing person and guide. He’s very knowledgeable, enthusiastically sharing about the desert, landscapes and country. He provided my family with some amazing lunches at scenic spots with expertly selected Chilean wine. He’s a steady driver too. Highly recommended!

Our itinerary was extremely well planned and customized based on our needs. We saw everything we wanted and more. Definitely a lot of attention to detail. We had a limited amount of time and wanted to experience everything and have long days and Jorge ensured every minute was worth it. Jorge provided the most delicious and healthy lunches (always with wine and dessert). He is an excellent guide, well versed about the terrain, geography and goes an extra mile to make us feel comfortable. Absolutely recommend!

We spent 2 unforgettable weeks in Chilean and Bolivian altiplano. This was a GREAT tour! In all meanings of this word. I even could not imagine such a beauty of nature: those mountains, lagoons with pink flamingos, geysers, cactus groves, famous salt flats…
Our guide and driver Jorge was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure everyone (we have traveled 6 of us) was comfortable, getting good pictures and having fun! I still remember how he organized very tasty lunch in the most beautiful and lonely places where there were no other people, but us. And, of course, with very good Chilean wine :) I really appreciate every moment of this.
Also Jorge is outstanding driver, he drove the jeep with easy through narrow and winding roads or off-road at all. It was really impressive!
When we corresponded before the trip, Jorge promised it would be the trip of a lifetime. And he fulfilled his promise and even more than enough!
Thank you, Jorge! I will always recommend as many people as possible to experience this breathtaking adventure of life!

We were looking for a non-cookie-cutter experience of the Atacama desert and we found Jorge's company which offers customized tours and experiences. The process of setting up the tour experience was seamless, Jorge was very responsive to what we desired and made appropriate suggestions. Communication was timely and the pricing was fair.
During the tours itself, we felt like we got a very authentic Chilean experience while still covering the beautiful sights in the SPA region. I strongly recommend touring the Altiplanic lagoons and Piedros Rojas with them! We enjoyed other sights in Lunar Valley, Antofagasta/Hand of the Desert. Our favorite experience was the lunch at Altiplans where were treated like family with a home made meal! Special shout out to our English speaking guide Andrea Hestobal for a great experience and the enjoyable scenic drives.

Great day with guide Jorge to hike to the Taira pictographs overlooking the Loa River. Jorge picked us up in his comfortable Prado at our hotel in Calama, filling us in with background information & geology of the area. He took us to a fine restaurant for lunch & also took us to fortress Lasana as we requested. Highly recommend his services. ThanksJorge & good luck on your Everest base camp trip.
