Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a beautiful lagoon but be aware once you get there there is nothing you can do. There are very limited designated pathways you cannot get close to the lagoon. there is nowhere to sit and enjoy the view all you can do is walk along a path and take photos!
We stopped on the top of the hill between the two lagoons in a space which would take 2 cars a ranger/guide appeared out of nowhere and told us we couldn't stop there it was for photos only...which is what we were doing. Seems we had to leave the car in the car park and walk up the hill in the sweltering heat along a small designated footpath to take a photo!!
Online tickets were not working but we managed to buy in Socaire. The form filling was ridiculously long in terms of the information needed and as a result there was a long queue. It took us an additional 30 mins on what was a 3 hour return journey from San Pedro, Was it worth the 3.5 hour trip to take a few photos? Not for us.
This was something we found everywhere we went around San Pedro. Stone walkways dictate where you are able to walk. Rangers are everywhere and can get very rude with you if the 'break' the rules! Really spoilt are enjoyment of the Atacama Desert. I applaud the efforts to protect the environment but they have taken measures to the extreme to the detriment of being able to enjoy such beautiful sights.

Having managed to negotiate the slightly complicated booking process and secured our tickets, we spent an hour and a half driving to Socaire only to find that the lakes were closed due to bad weather. I was advised to claim a refund of the ticket price from the finance person and given a number to contact. Having done that, I was told that my refund would be processed, but that it would take 10-15 days. A month later and still no refund and no response to my messages or emails. Please be aware that you do risk losing your money and driving 3 hours for nothing!

If this review helps one person, it will be extremely valuable! There was so much confusion related to the booking process the day I visited (1/22/2023) It's very important to follow the process outlined on the official website of Socaire Chile to purchase tickets. First, you need to purchase a ticket in advance and only at the official website. Next you have to select a date and time to visit the site. Next, you need to arrive in the town of Solcaire at least 1 hour before your ticket time. You will get a paper ticket from the office in Socaire using the QR code of the ticket you purchased online. You must also provide your license plate number. There may be big line in Solcaire when you arrive so plan to arrive on time. Solcaire is 30 minutes from Lagunas Miscanti y Miniques if arriving from San Pedro Atacama.
You cannot miss any of the steps above, or do them out of order, to gain entry. You must present your paper ticket at the gate of Lagunas Miscanti y Miniques. Your QR code will not gain you entry to the park without a paper ticket from Solcaire one hour in advance!
The visit is amazing and well worth it!

The place is breathtaking, untouched and peaceful. Besides the views you get the wild vicuñas walking around.
Just be careful with the local guides as one of them was rude, insulting and almost physically aggressive with our family. Our fault was to walk the trail the opposite direction it was supposed. (We were following a previous group)
The administration should better train those guys.
Other than that the visit was an experience we will not forget. I doubt there are other places like this in the world.

Drove for nothing
Closed like many other tourist attractions in San Pedro de Atacama.
Locals say due to covid but I heard it is a boycott of the locals who are demanding a proper hospital as currently they need to travel 100k to visit the hospital in Calama

This is another place you must to visit here. I did the visit after lunch so the park was almost empty and with our guide we did the long hike trail that starts in the restroom areas of miscant and ends in the restrooms of Miñiques. probably we spent over 2 hours walking

Quite a ways south from 'San Pedro' with very little in between, these two lakes are definitely a pretty sight!
If you can factor in other things to your day, and you love that 'once in a lifetime' photo, go for it. Otherwise, it might be worth it to view things more proximal to the small, focal town of San Pedro de Atacama.

The views are amazing, but apart from that there is not that much of interest. The famous flamingos were kind of missing (only 2 there). Worth doing but not highest priority if time is limited (eg geysers which are a similar full day trip are much more amazing)

The Miscanti and Miniques lagoons are located close to each other and offer some magnificent picturesque surroundings. Be prepared for high altitude travel, when going from San Pedro De Atacama. Watching several wild birds and vicuñas in their natural habitat was an absolute delight. Certainly would very highly recommend visiting these 2 lagoons to any tourist in San Pedro De Atacama.

Definitely worth a visit, such a great setting to view the lagoons. Yes, just another entry fee in the Atacama Desert but the lagoons with the snow covered in the background look spectacular. A few small walks available as well, some interesting birds to watch (not just flamingoes) but be careful with altitude sickness.
