Couldn't recommend Jorge's stargazing experience more! A truly wonderful experience from the pickup, to the warm welcome by Jorge and his assistant, the informative intro to astronomy and the stargazing through the different telescopes - not to mention the great drinks and snacks during the break. You'll also be taking pictures and Jorge will send them to you as a souvenir. Just do it - you won't regret it!

What a great evening. Jorge picked us up on 1st February 2020 at our hotel and brought us through the chilean night to a garden with plenty of astronomical equipement. First he gave us a very interesting presentation about astronomical history, starting with Galileo Galilei to Johannes Kepler, Isaac Newton and other famous astronomers. Then looking up to the stars and the moon together with his explanations was gorgeous. To hear about the Southern Cross, the Milky Way, the star clusters, the star constellations was very exciting and because of the very dry air and the low light pollution we could see all this throught the various telecopes. Jorge was very patient with us and answered all questions professionally. We appreciated the little break with tasty snacks and hot drinks as the nights in the Atacama are not too warm… Jorge, thank you again for the great evening. It was really one of the highlights of our trip to the Atacama desert. Gabi and Helmut

The stargazing tour with Jorge was truly excellent. The tour started with a lesson in astronomy, which helped put into context the spectacular sky we would soon be observing. Jorge is incredibly knowledgeable and shared his knowledge engagingly. The lesson was followed by a break time with excellent treats. Jorge and his wife prepared a very tasty spread! After snack, Jorge prepared his numerous and powerful telescopes and we all had ample opportunities to view the sky. The tour ended with Jorge taking (quite stunning) photos of all us, which he shared with us via email after the tour. Because Jorge keeps his tour groups small, I felt we all had ample time to view and enjoy the night sky. Jorge was super communicative prior to the tour and was very clear in letting me know the logistics. Prior to the tour, Jorge advised not to take an early tour the morning after his tour- I strongly second that advice. Our tour ended well past 2am and I imagine the tour would have been far less enjoyable if I were concerned about having to wake up early the next morning.

Jorge was great about communicating, and the experience was exceptional! Be prepared for a long night...we got picked up at 9pm and returned to our hotel at 2:15am. They provided great food and drink, education, and amazing views through their impressive telescopes. We would absolutely recommend!

My husband and I were sleep deprived and cranky after travelling almost 24 hours to get to San Pedro de Atacama. But Jorge turned around our mood and energy with his fantastic tour of the skies near SPdA. At Jorge's suggestion, we did the SAT 2 tour on March 3 to avoid the brightness of the waxing moon. We were the only ones on the tour that night. Jorge picked us up at 11:30 p.m. from our hotel outside of SPdA, and drove approximately 15 minutes to his property for the tour. He had set up comfortable camping-type chairs with blankets and a heater, which made the cold night very comfortable. The tour started with Jorge giving us a fascinating lesson on astronomy. As part of his lesson, we looked at different parts of the clear skies, which were getting darker and even more beautiful as the moon set. Jorge really makes various historical figures and astronomical concepts come to life - my husband and I couldn't help but stay awake and engaged despite our tiredness! After Jorge's lesson, we had an extended food break that was basically a second dinner. We drank the much-celebrated delicious asparagus soup that lives up to the hype, yummy! Jorge and his assistant also put out a huge spread of other snacks and beverages: brownies, hot chocolate, tortilla chips, guacamole, fresh fruit on skewers, wine, coffee, chocolate, etc. After our bellies were full and the moon had set, we spent another hour or so looking at the skies through Jorge's telescopes. He pointed out many difficult objects that looked like nothing more than smudges or empty space, but through the telescopes a whole new world was opened up to us, consisting of nebulae, stars, galaxies and planets. Jorge's passion for stargazing is evident. He excitedly kept pointing out different objects in the sky, and was patient and friendly in answering all questions. Thanks to Jorge, I will never look at the night sky in the same way! The tour ended at around 4 a.m., with Jorge taking photos of me and my husband against the backdrop of the Milky Way. What a great way to commemorate the tour! He also took a photo of the sky without us. Jorge emailed me the photographs the next day; I have attached one of them to this review so you can see what is in store for you! This tour is more expensive than other stargazing tours in SPdA, but it is well worth it. You will learn a lot, see a lot through a variety of telescopes (so you see a LOT of detail!), and will get some amazing photographs from Jorge that will ensure lasting memories. Also, Jorge cares about your experience, which is why he times the tours so that you avoid the brightness of a waning or full moon, and refuses to schedule tours when the moon is too bright. He will also reschedule tours when the skies are cloudy. I heartily recommend Jorge and his tour!
