As someone who enjoys hiking, Huangshan was an amazing place. With 2 friends I hiked up the mountain starting at east gate and we made our way up to the white goose peak. From there we saw all the peaks that were open. Unfortunately the lotus peak was closed. Must see for those who like hiking. Breathtaking views. Recommend 2... More

We took cable car went up and down. Still, there are ton of stairs to go to all places, with ton of people around you. The weather changed quickly and we don't see sunset and sunrise. Beihai hotel is nice to stay. Remember to take hiking pole with you.

Well, get ready to walk.... and walk.... and go up and down.... the mountain has more than 6000 degrees on the way.... If you love to take photos, you should sleep in the mountain but, remember: since is hard to go up and go down, bring food! The hotels and restaurants are quite expensive!

My wife and I (being photographers) spent 10 days UP in Huangshan and here are some pieces of advice we can give: 1) Stay in Tunxi. We took a train from Beijing (High speed train) and reached Huangshan North Railway. From there, you will have a transport hub where buses will fetch you to Tunxi (about an hour). A taxi... More

Drove to the initial entrance from Huangshan city, took a bus to what we thought was the cable car, a 20 minute walk from the bus terminal to the cable car station followed and then a 30-minute ride to the top of the mountain, with amazing views on the way up (and down, of course). The time taken to get... More

We got super lucky with weather, got beautiful mountains bathing in sun for two days. Quite a lot of snow along the way up and down as well, but it was melting fast. Slippery stairs didnt bother us, as there werent that many, but had to be careful. Both ways up and down we decided to walk. And when I... More

You can either do a mountain trail hiking up or halve the journey by taking the cable car. Being the more adventurous kind, we chose mountain climbing. It was not easy as we had to backpack all necessary stuff for the night stay and warm clothing as it is winter time and food/snacks to munch along the way. Ice cleats... More

I got here early in the morning and began exploring the mountain, it's a big place with miles of uphill and downhill walking, some areas lack signs so it's easy to get lost. There is no time for sight seeing, rest or enjoyment, they stopped the cablecar at 6:30pm, despite running and climbing steps like an Olympic athlete to beat... More

A tale of two visits: I have visited Huangshan twice, once in August and once in January. August was a crowded circus and January was a wonderful experience (albeit wet, cold and snowy). Huangshan is a fabulous place with incredible scenery. It should not be missed, although it is expensive and can entail multiple hassles. From my experiences, I would... More

Be aware, lots of steps. Lots and lots of steps, and just when you think there can't possibly be any more steps, there are more steps. The view was spectacular, the area clean and well maintained. We actually saw a wild Reese's monkey the day we were them. The gentleman portering luggage and supplies up the mountain were busy the... More
