Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I came to Chaozhou on 4 Oct 2018 during the Golden Week. The queue of visitors waiting to have a glimpse of this 1000 yr old ancient bridge was terribly long. It discouraged me from entering to feel the glory of this ancient magnificent infrastructure. However, I managed to take photos from the riverside boulevard and appreciated her beauty from a distance.
China is proud of her spectacular infrastructure construction both in the modern era and those from the ancient days. It displays the ingenuity of the resourcefulness of the Chinese people and their resilience and capability to overcome challenges in engineering to improve the living environment. The modern China proudly presented the world's longest mega bridge built over the sea connecting Zhuhai, Macau and Hongkong. This Guangji Bridge was probably the `mega' project 1000 years ago.
This bridge reminds me of the Zhongshan Iron Bridge in Lanzhou which replaced the floating Zhen Yuan Bridge that used 20 ships to connect in order to cross the Yellow River. That was one of China's primitive bridges that was poorly constructed to overcome the threat of floods.
During Mao's era, China boasts of the construction of the robust Nanjing Bridge which she built on her own when her relationship with the Soviet Union soured and Russian bridge engineers suddenly abandoned the bridge construction forcing China to depend on her own engineers.
Today's China has emerged as the world champion in infrastructure construction be it rail transportation, roads or bridges. China hopes to regain the engineering supremacy of the past.
1000 years ago, Guangji Bridge was probably the world's most advanced and sophisticated bridges and 1000 years later, the modern China is making engineering miracles to build hundreds and thousands of `Guangji Bridges' over the world regaining her renowned reputation of being the pioneer in sophisticated bridge construction.
This bridge reminds us of the glory of ancient China's bridge construction.

Entrance fee for Guangji bridge RMB 50. If you are above 70 years old it's free just show your ID. As for above 60 years old is half the price.

Interesting bridge made up with different sections where the architecture of each section are all different. The center of the bridge is made up of a few boats that are lined up. These boats will move aside in the late afternoon to allow other boats to cross. At about 5:30 pm, it was interesting to see a whole stream of sand-carrying boats lining up to cross!
Other than the bridge, there is the Kaiyuan temple as well as Chaozhou Arch Street nearby that are both worth taking a look.

Our group visited this famous Guangji Bridge, also known as Xiangzi Bridge in Chaozhou. Our tour guide gave us a short history of this ancient bridge that crosses the Han River. It used to be a floating bridge and was built in the Song dynasty. It was reconstructed many times over the years. The east and west bridge were connected by 18 boats to form the bridge.
The bridge is made up of a beam bridge, arch bridge and bateau bridge which makes it unique in China. A beautiful ancient bridge that had lasted for so many centuries. Glad we came to view this amazing structure.
We didn't have time to walk on the bridge but took some lovely pictures of the bridge and river.

Nice to see but a price just to walk across a bridge that doesn't go to the other end. I did not go on the bridge cause I refused to pay the fee but the bridge is very impressive from the road and offers many great pictures. I would recommend this one for sure when you're in Chaozhou

The bridge is made up of a series of pavilions on both ends for resting and sight seeing purposes. These pavilions stop short about half way through and becomes a series of boats. These boats are detached at certain times of the day to allow big boats to pass through. These boats are secured tightly so have no fear of the bobbing feeling.
A buffalo statue can be found on one of the pavilions. Accordingly there were two, however during a flood one statue was washed away.
If you come here via hired taxi, get the driver to meet you at the opposite bank so you do not need to double back.
Enjoy.

Went to the bridge twice in the morning and night. The light show was massive and awesome! Do watch out for pickpockets as there's a huge crowd. I didn't experience any pickpocket incident but I was uncomfortable with the crowd being in close proximity while you're trying to enjoy the show. Worry not, there are police patrolling the place as well.

This is an interesting bridge built from 2 ends and in the middle section, it is joined to several stationery wooden boats. I understand these boats are anchored there from 10 am to 6 pm and are removed outside this timing to facilitate boats sailing along the river. The boats are well secured and does not rock as we crossed on them. There are some art and antique displays on part of this bridge. An admission fee is payable to enter the bridge.
