I would recommend all tourists to Chaozhou to visit this monumental arches. There are two rows of shops for one to patronize when sauntering around the arches. Other attractions such as guangji bridge and gate tower, ancient city wall, kaiyuan temple are all in proximity.

It's a narrow street, with small houses and ancients surrounding. Not much to see or do here, just visiting the old surrounding neighborhood.

Arch Street (Taiping Road) is quite long with lots of monumental arches. Apparently they are all reconstructions as the original were torn down for building material. The arches are meant to commemorate famous people from Chaozhou and have a translation of the description in English...More
