Despite the skies being hazy during our visit, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery at in the Seven Star Crags area. The lake water appeared clear, peaceful, with no sign of pollution. The free-standing limestone-rock mountains, with rugged cliffs and rock faces, added a mystical touch to the scenery. The total lake and rocky area approximates eight square kilometres. The lake goes by two names, Star Lake and Xinghu Lake of Zhaoqing. The area is also famous for its limestone caves.

The Seven Crags is an astonishing natural site, inexpensive and refreshing to enjoy. It is actually a huge outdoor landscape with paths that lead strollers around the majestic crags and caves, past pools of koi-koi, and alongside the beautiful waters.
In plastic playgrounds like Disneyland and Disneyworld, where landscape artists work with unlimited creativity and funds, they can't begin to recreate something like Seven Crags. It is the real deal -- nature scultped and nurtured to provide inspiration and invigoration.
It was one of the unexpected highlights of my month-long trip, that included many more well known and popular attractions in China.
You do not have to travel to see the Crags by a tourbus. Rent a car in Guangzhou and drive over. Along the way, visit Dinghu Mountain and its temple and waterfall. An absolutely excellent day trip from anywhere in South China.
By the way, there is an International Youth Hostel at Dinghu, and if my dream comes true someday, look for me at an American B&B at Seven Crags.

We toured the Seven star Crags via cruise. Cost 45 yuan per person. Please note it is cash payment. They do not accept international credit card.
Some of the island visited were quite interesting- there was one which had pink flamingoes, another with rare red top cranes which ( for a small fee) you can feed. It was a nice walk through several islands and nice bridges to cross. Good for children to see

This is my second visit to this scenic park...after a sojourn of five years. Was impressed by the good standard of upkeep and maintenance.... The beauty of the limestone mountain peaks reflected on the tranquil lakes still lingers in my mind. Glad also to be able to feed the school of koi fishes at the tea house pond. Left refreshed and inspired after this recent visit.

I visited from Hong Kong via a lazy 4 hour direct train ride. It was meant to be a lazy 2 day stay and i wasn't expecting a lot. It turns out to be very nice small park to see in a very laid back town of Zhaoqing.
The little islands are like oversized scholar rocks neatly arranged on the lakes. Although the park is a bit small, it provides enough to explore for 3 hours without even climbing of the hills. Walking into the park, there are various ponds, lakes and small forest to explore. I would try the boat rides if it were 30 deg celcious.
The park is right in the middle of Zhaoqing and is very accessible. Facilities are limited and restaurants are basic (on the rough side). Nonetheless, great place for a small break and i would come back again.

Wonderful and picturesque lake, where by a good weather you can make a boat trip or walk around the lake, where traditional Chinese music is played from in every corner.

Visited this park on a day trip to Zhaoqing, disappointed to find it in the middle of the city when I was expecting a trip to a mountainous area. Peaks do not compare to the Guilin scenery. Boat trip into the cave to see the stalactites was over before we knew it. We also went into another cave, with an admission fee, that was filled with statues of gods, no English explanation. If you go to Zhaoqing , start with the Dinghu Mountain Resort. Also recommend a stop at the Bagua Village called Licha

We walk from the North Gate to the West Gate in a little over one hour but could have taken electric cars for a quicker trip. The main path was flat and could be used by strollers.
Annoying to find extra charges to visit various caves, and even 2¥ to cross a swingbridge! Very peaceful on a week day, but possibly very poplar in weekends.

We had looked forward very much to visiting this park. Especially to the limestone caves and carvings. entrance fee was 60 RMB, and had this been it all, its been okay. But you also had to pay for every thing inside the park also. It irritated and ruined the overall impression. For Kinererene this is a park with clear Religious importance and number of temples and budha shapes were the biggest I've seen in any park so long. The main attraction, limestone cave was really good, but somewhat ruined by Chinese need to destroy everything with color and flashing lights. But it was worth a visit. The boat trip into the cave was a bit uncomfortable, the boat was overcrowded, and had little freeboard and I feel unsecure. The cave was low and I had to bend head all time. But the walk inside the cave was good. The second cave was terrible. Resembled a bunker from WWII and had worn characters and not worth visiting. In addition, they would like you to light the incense, bending of budha and ask for something. Then write your name and pasting this on a wall. It peaked when they asked for 500 RMB for this. Then I just went away
The plan was to spend more time in the park, but was disappointed and ended the visit before the scheduled . If you are aware that you should expect to spend 200 RMB, plan your trip.
The park is graded to AAAA in the Chinese national tourism plan.
My advice:
Visiting the park with open eyes and clear ovar it cost to visit all's attractions as well. Plan your trip well, it's a map to get, also in English. Visit the park in the sunshine
