We have gone to Railroad Park many times over the last year. We have taken picnic lunches, studied there, played frisbee with the dogs, taken lots of pictures, watched the trains, and napped. We have always felt safe except once. We were eating some snacks and a strange looking young man walked over to us and asked for some popcorn.... More

Lived in Birmingham all my life and remember a time we didn't have RRP. It has different features for different people. Small area for skateboards, kid playground equipment, lots of walking/running paths as well as several nice size areas to layout on the grass with friends or throw a football, Frisbee. Perfect place to escape from all the concrete or... More

Absolutely one of my favorite places to spend a sunny weekend afternoon in Birmingham! Whether you're looking to take your dog for a lovely walk, ride a Zyp bike, use the park as a starting point for walking the amazing new Rotary Trail, or simply just wanting to spread out a blanket and nap, study, or read, this park truly... Birmingham's revival has been demonstrated in many ways, but none better than Railroad Park. The landscaping is gorgeous, with lots of scenic trails for walking or jogging, walking your dog, etc. Clean restrooms and a picnic table area are nice amenities. I also love the view of the Birmingham skyline. The park is right across the street from Regions baseball... More

As a landscape architect, this is one of the best designed urban parks I have had thepleasure of visiting. First class in all regards. Excellent spot for a casual walk of simply sitting and enjoying the outdoors.

I stopped here because it was between the Civil Rights Institute (a Must See) and the Botanical Gardens. It's a great park, but more of a locals scene - good place to walk, run, ride your bike, play with the kids...stuff like that - so if I lived in Birmingham I'd probably be a big user, but I'm not really... We visited the park on several occasions throughout the year. It was a great spot for us to meet daddy while he was working at the hospital and had a quick break! We appreciated the open air, the play ground, the trains and the bathrooms!

It was a beautiful day and we had some time available before dinner, so we checked this park out. It felt very new, but the locals were out in full-force. We were able to easily find street parking after 5pm and we felt perfectly safe. We enjoyed just walking around (the kids played on the 2 small playgrounds for a... More

Adjacent to Regions Field, the local ballpark, this gem includes several tracks surfaced with crushed gravel, synthetic rubber, and natural grass. There are boot camps who meet here regularly for exercise in the open air. My daughters and I went to the park today to enjoy an afternoon kicking the soccer ball around, and we noticed several families playing in... More

We enoy the outdoors but I have a disability so I use a scooter to get around. The trail is only for pedestrians which is a bummer as they are nice enough for bicycles but don't allow them. You can ride around the town on the streets but no bike trails that I know of. Lots of folks go to... More
