Amazing place, especially if you are visiting or new to the area. An industrial photographers dream. Lots of history and lots of great places to explore. Set aside several hours. Also has a new visitors center with a very friendly staff.

Sloss rises up above you like an iron castle. It was saved from destruction by concerned local citizens. Sloss was at its heyday, a furnace that produced tons of pig iron (cast iron) but the invention of plastic for pipes and the advent of EPA...More

This is a really cool, unique museum. If you like business and industry history, you should stop. It is also great if you just like walking around outside seeing big, rusting, hulking old factories this is the place!

I visited here once before and loved it. I'm not huge on ghost stories so going down below the ground in the dark was a bit scary. It's a great place to walk around, take photos of and even better if you know the history....More

I've always been fascinated with old industrial areas but this is really nice. It is free to the public and you walk around at your own pace. It takes about 45 - 60 minutes to walk around. Sometimes you can catch a concert there too....More

This is a great location to visit if you are a history buff, the site has not been upgraded and was left as it had been. This adds to its charm and is a hidden jewel in Birmingham. We took 2 teenaged boys and they were...More

I attended a music festival here, which was very cool. The Landmark/park, though was extremely interesting just itself. There is so much "current" American history to be learned and experienced here (at the festival they had an iron works expo -where you could watch workers...More

I have only been there during the day when there was plenty going on. I could see it being a great place for feeling spooky at night.
