Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you go there I advise to climb from the bottom to the top of the mountain even though there are more than 6000 steps...You will pass close to many temples, places to drink tea or eat some food. Local people may also appreciate your effort taking some photos with you.

Words cannot describe this place and you have to see it for yourself. It is the "Number One" mountain and one of the holiest. Be careful of strong winds near the summit as it can blow you off your feet.

It's not the tallest mountain in China, that's for sure, but it's known as the #1 of the 5 sacred mountains in China. People have recognized the spiritual connection of this place for 30 centuries or so. Chinese people love it and travel to see it in huge numbers. It's not as famous for foreigners. Taoists, Buddhists, followers of Confuscius, and people who appreciate the ancient religions of China, all flock to Taishan, especially during national holidays. It's a challenging hike up over 7,000 stone stairs, steep and narrow near the top, but the temples and the views of nature may be well worth it. Taishan is in the middle of Shandong Province, on the east coast of China, and there are far fewer foreign influences here than in international cities in China such as Dalian, but you can find a KFC in Taian, at the foot of Taishan, if you look long and hard enough.

This Geological park sets out in the foothills of the Taishan Mountain range wooing and wowing visitors from far and near alike.
This is a very tall mountain range with several peaks that are sometimes above the clouds.
The park at the foot of the mountain is entertaining enough, but that is just thin slice of the thrills that the attraction offers.
Well, visiting is not cheap, but as they say, "you get what you pay for"; this destination is worth the expense.
RMB125 for entrance, RMB30 for the bus ride (in each direction) that takes you about halfway up, RMB100 for each ride in the cable car.
If you are spending only half a day, I recommend taking all the rides, as there is still a good portion of climbing to do above the cable cars.
If you have full day, you can choose to skip the bus or the cable car and enjoy the climb and the scenery. If a little lazy, take the cable car or bus up, and climb downwards.
It is a good outdoor activity and definitely not recommended for a rainy day. It's a little cold at the top, so take a jacket or scarf along.
Drinking water was sold to us at RMB8 for a 50cl bottle. I guess there is a cost to carrying the water all the way up. If you want to save, take your own water along.
There are lots of shops selling souvenirs, little bells, fancy stones/pendants + engraving your name or anything you want them to write, cane walking sticks, etc.
Later, I learnt a bit more about the very historic temples at the peaks: famous for their association with coronations and feasts of ancient Emperors.
It was a good half-day outing for me, and I have two standing invitations to return and watch the sunrise from above the clouds.

Hi everyone! I'm planning on going to Mount Tai in a couple weeks. I want to climb up and stay overnight to watch the sunrise. Hotels/hostels are very expensive on top and almost every review is negative. I read that camping is no longer permitted on one website. Does anyone know if this is true? How hard would stealth camping be?

You can still camp out to see the sunrise on the top of Taishan. The hotel halfway up the hill is not expensive at all. They will wake you up at 3 in the morning, in time to climb up for the sunrise show.
