    Cavtat on a tour coach
We came to Cavtat with a P and O cruise ship tour. On a tour bus from Dubrovnik. The tour guide walked us to the waterfront, she gave some information but because of the the large tour number I could hear a thing. The waterfront is having a lot of work carried out at the moment. We then had free time to explore on our own. Its a lovely walk around the coast path, we just didnt have enough time to complete it, or really enjoy the vista. As usual the return time to the coach meant a quick gallop to a view point and back again

A bit of a hidden gem
20 euro return to the area from Dubrovnik old town on the ferry. Wasn’t expecting too much as we’d been to Lockrum island a couple of days earlier which is massively overrated. We both really enjoyed it. It’s almost half the price of Dubrovnik for food and drink and the area as a whole was really nice. The walks around the peninsula were really pleasant. Will definitely go again and was well worth the trip.

    Picture postcard perfect
We came to Cavtat 10 years ago and returned this year. It is so pretty. There are many restaurants and we had the best meals here during our touring holiday. We'd recommend Altas for lovely pizzas, Bugenvilla for Michelin fine dining and Konoba Kolona for excellent seafood and personal service.

    Good evening time
It is a nice place to walk in the evening with a view of the sea, boats and yachts. It is located on a peninsula. You can climb the steps in the middle of the peninsula (town) for a view of the big place. There are several restaurants and cafes. The town is located near the airport, so you can see the planes landing.

    Beautiful Place
What a beautiful place to visit, we stayed here and would again. The sunset is amazing, there never seems to be a queue for a restaurant and the food is lovely. You can get a boat for €20 return to Dubrovnik which returns every half hour. Whether it’s the day or night it’s the most picturesque place I’ve ever visited. There isn’t many supermarket places to shop if staying in an apartment but the restaurants are plenty and offer lots of variety. For a very nice but reasonably priced ice cream head to the restaurant opposite the boats that take you to Dubrovnik.

    Lovely picturesque coastal village
Cavtat old town is a lovely harbour town full of bars and restaurants , a couple of museums and a great base for exploring Dubrovnik . The beach vibe is more rocky than traditional beach , although beach Zal is great for younger kids as is more beachy . Bus and water taxi connect you with nearby villages or Uber is a sometimes cheaper option if more than two travellers .

    The prettiest place
This was our second visit to Cavtat. It is such a pretty, relaxing place to stay. We introduced friends to this wonderful place this year and they loved it also. So close to the airport and an hour away by boat from Dubrovnik. There's lots to do around the area but if you want peace and quiet, amazing food with fabulous people, this is the place for you.

    Very nice coastal old town
Cavtat Old Town is located near the Dubrovnik Airport and there are some interesting points like churches (St. Nicholas Church or the Monastery of Our Lady of Snow), a very nice promenade close to the sea, a leisure port, some bars and restaurant (like Peco Pastry&Coffee shop), a cemetery with very beautiful views of the surroundings and some pathwlaks. It is a very nice little town to walk and, in our case, to finish the journey in Dalmatian Coast. (See also Cavtat Seaside Promenade, Cavtat Cemetery, Church of St Nicholas, Church of Our Lady of the Snow and Pastry&Coffe Shop Peco)

    Nice little place.
Great little place, people very friendly, nice place to spend a couple of days. A few things to see plenty of watersports and lively at night. Dubrovnik is just a short distance away by boat or bus.

Like a step back in time.
Like a step back in time! Cavtat is starting it's journey towards commercialism and as such is still charmingly old fashioned. Traditional restaurants and bars rather than pushy establishments with employees trying to drag you inside their businesses. It is beautiful and the sea is so warm and clear. Just don't expect beaches, sandy or otherwise. This area is rocky and beaches are levelled areas of rock with steps or pool type ladders to the water.

I only stayed one evening but enjoyed it. Walked round the headland, up to the cemetery and through the picturesque lanes leading up from the harbour. Had a good meal, a nice ice cream and a very pleasant evening.

I read that Cavtat began life in the third century BC as Epidaurum, a colony founded by the Greeks from the island of Vis. It was destroyed in the 7th century and occasional excavations have revealed several remains of the antique town. The pretty village of Cavtat grew up in its place. It was discovered by Austro-Hungarian tourists at the beginning of the twentieth century; however, development was slow and fortunately much of Cavtat’s charm survives along the seafront promenade. Unfortunately, there was quite a bit of construction during our visit.
Cavtat is set on a horseshoe-shaped bay, defined by two long peninsulas covered in pine forests with the port and a tree-lined promenade in between. While Cavtat’s old town is small, I found it to be very atmospheric. Sloping gently up from the promenade, the narrow streets are full of attractive village houses.

We drove to Cavtat from Dubrovnik but it can be easily reached via boats that leave from Dubrovnik’s Old Port – it is cheaper if you purchase a round trip ticket but you would have to return with the same company.

Or, you can also reach Cavtat by public bus #10 and the journey will take about 30 minutes.

Once we parked, we first dropped in at the Tourist Office. The office was staffed by two people who were singularly unhelpful, never acknowledged our presence and spent their time on their computers. We were the only ones there. Even saying Hello received no response. So we picked up a few brochures and left.

The suggested walking path brochure was particularly helpful. Don’t miss the parish church of St Nicholas at the bottom of the hill and the scenic views from Cavtat’s cemetery at the top. Halfway to the cemetery we found The House of Vlaho Bukovac, an art museum. You can see more of Bukovac’s work at the former Rector’s Palace, along with a collection of Roman artefacts. The biggest tourist attractions are located along the seaside promenade.

However, I also encourage you to just wander up the staircases that lead to the residential areas. The views are beautiful and it is a nice way to admire some older buildings. Lastly, take the time to just relax and grab a meal, or just a drink at one of the restaurants that line the seafront.

Beautiful. A harbor side, tiny village, with pretty boats and restaurants. A must see. We stayed in Dubrovnik, and went to Catvat on a boat which runs very frequently. Find the supermarket to buy local wines for just a few euros, they were amazing.

We came here one morning because it was the next “resort” along in the water taxi. Very peaceful and there seems like a lot of walks along the coast.
The sea front, as usual, was full of restaurants, but unusually there were a few women’s boutiques which most of the women on the taxi headed for. There were some very unusual dresses there and obviously a target for those in the know.
There is a beautiful church and a cemetery, which is a boy of a climb, that is worth going to (the mausoleum is worth the money).

Very attractive little town to walk around and stop for coffee. We had an early flight and could not get into our hotel, so the coach dropped us off at Cavtat for a couple of hours. If I had had any sleep the night before I would have enjoyed it more.

The Adriana Ferry at €10 each way is a bargain for a 45 minute boat ride past Lokrum Island and three, beautiful towns including a ferry stop at Mlini on the return.
Cavtat itself is a great walking town with a wrap around “Riva” on the west side and quaint harbour/marina on the east side connected by a short flat walkway.
Lots of food options, but we opted for a lunch at Bouganvillia, a recently awarded Michelin Guide mention indicating fine food and service at reasonable prices.
Disabled friendly near the water. Some stairs if you want to explore. Beaches and swimming a short walk to the north side of the west harbour.
Tour boats and ferries available right on the Riva.
Montenegro is 22 Km’s away.

Absolutely feel in love with Cavtat. It is the most beautiful place. The town is gorgeous. Lovely restaurants, but it’s the views and the water that is to die for. Loved swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding here. The water is crystal clear and so many fish. I didn’t want to get out. Watched the best sunsets in Cavtat. Saw three during our week and they blew me away. Stunning. Would return to Cavtat in a heart beat. We visited Dubrovnik and I was soooo pleased we didn’t stay there. Cool city but Cavtat is just so beautiful and lovely and quiet. There was also so much going on. Each night there was some kind of entertainment - from the summer fair to dancing to a Capella groups. Loved it all. Wished we didn’t have to leave.

If you have the time, spend a day in this town. You will feel paradise on earth
