Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The main street of the old town of Porec still bears the Roman name and stretches from east to west. Dekumanska, the ancient decumanus of the Roman "castrum", constitutes the main street of Porec, which divides the town in two and is the central artery of the Old Town.

The pavement is made of Dalmatian stone so it is easy to slip.

Along the street one can find numerous shops of all kinds, albeit a bit on the expensive side, but still fun to browse. I found that most items were more expensive than elsewhere, you are paying for the ambience.

It begins in the east at the main square, Trg. Slobode, and travels across the old town, past many historical attractions and buildings. During our walk, we admired the houses and palaces that frame it, but beware that it can become quite crowded.

About halfway along the Decumanus there is the so-called Romanesque House, a curious medieval house with a stone ground floor and a wooden first floor.

Rather touristic but a nice old street with old houses and buildings but just too many tourist shops in it so loses the charm partly, not very long still worthwhile to walk through.

Nice, busy street for an evening walk with some great places to eat and drink like Tunaholic or Fontana.

This is a lovely old stone street lined with plenty of tourists shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and ice cream shops.
It always seemed quite a lively place due to the number of tourists and often little extra such as street singers and artists.
It leads into a main square with the church at the top.
A must to walk up and down.

Shopping and ice cream street, full of small stores and pretty crowded. I have never seen so many ATMs in one street.

Interesting old cobbled street lined with lots of touristy gift shops, jewellers, and small bars. Leads out at top end to main square and church. Square surrounded by bars and restaurants

But, can you blame them? I don‘t think so. Poreč old town centre is a touristic place, and thus people are concerned with serving them. You find bars, restaurants, gift shops all looking for the friendly tourist. The old and picturesque buildings are worth viewing, definitely better than the shops.

... full of people out for a night out. We joined in after dropping our bags at our airbnb on Eufrazijeva St just above all the cafes & bars. Although tired, all the buzz from the narrow street , forced us to join in. Both here & Decumanus Sts run parallel to each other & accomodate so many lively bars & cafes.
Porec far from a sleepy little town, was in party mode. All the bars & restaurants were full to overflowing.
We chose Cafe Dubrovnik & enjoyed a great late evening meal & drink.
What a great introduction to Croatia.

Walking om a Decumanus street, when I can, is always a thrill for me. As a history buff, I always love to experience the Past. While it went modern, you still have the same use of the space. Long, main street with shops, food, icecream, different spaces, stone buildings, with people talking, buying, communicating, its beautiful. The little streets that connect on it are places for perfect pictures. You can easily imagine that people throughout the centuries used it in the same way. You can feel the memory of the Past while experiencing it in the present.
