Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Throughout this week I have tried to get to know the city of Guayaquil and its most emblematic places, including the Peñas neighborhood, although I did not go beyond staircase number 100 due to the crowding and the fact that at first glance it can be seen as a dangerous place. I only heard that they robbed some tourists and that they sold illicit substances, in addition, their products are not suitable for consumption by foreigners, which left a bad image on me and I just had to leave before something bad happened to me.

Worth coming here to see the real town of Guayaquil, not too far from our hotel and next door to the Ferris Wheel and waterfront. It’s the old neighborhood. Not that clean but safe climbing, security guards everywhere. 400 steps is nothing and you will be rewarded with a nice church and lighthouse. Also you can see the view of the town. After here we walk across to get a ride on the cable car. A must and dirt cheap crossing the river. Love Ecuador. 3 blocks near cable car station is the handicrafts main bazaar(Mercado Artesanal Guayaquil)We loaded on leather belts, wallets, Panama hats, Alpaca blankets and hammock etc. So cheap! Must bargain.

If you visit Guayaquil, you have to check out Las Peñas. There are 444 stairs that climb up to the top of a view of the city. Along the climb, there are several restaurants and shops. Once you get to the top, you can climb further up to the top of the lighthouse that overlooks the city. There were not that many people there when we went, and the food we tried was average at best, but it is worth the experience and view. If you're looking for local businesses to support, this is the area to visit!

The sector of Las Peñas, is located at the same height of the Santa Ana hill and near the Malecon 2000, in this street you can see how was the Guayaquil of aforetime, the houses are very colorful and quaint, you can also visit museums, local crafts of the city of Guayaquil, it is a very quiet and very sheltered place.

This is a small area to walk, A few interesting shops and galleries.
When in Guayaquil this is something to do but don't expect too much of the art.

Pretty neighbourhood and nice views. We were advised to stick to the main numbered 444 steps. Lots of restaurant and shopping options.

Went up the 448 step to El Faro. The view is worth it. There is also a chapel at the top of the mount. The security is real good.

We did it fairly early on a Monday so the restaurants and bars weren't open yet. But the area looked like it would be pretty fun one it gets rolling.views grin the top were really nice. It's across the street from Malecon 200 and the metro cable car station. If you have time ride the cable car from the to end, pretty cool.

I took a walk up the hill to the lighthouse and church. Hot work getting up the 444 steps but worth the view. There are hummingbirds in the trees up there too. The route is heavily policed like the whole area.
