The promenade along the river is a delight to walk and a place to relax. There is a tourist trail to the hill, Lighthouse and beautiful church and the Eye Wheel. It is clean and street traders and Hawkers are not allowed on this promenade so it feels calm and safe

A long walk along the Malecon was certainly well worth it, I've returned home to Australia with so many wonderful memories of Guayaquil.

This reminded me of Las Ramblas in Barcelona, with buskers and families walking along the riverfront at night. There is an extensive shopping area - mainly clothing and eating places

the views are splendid, but when you look down to the waterfront, you only see garbage, plastic in the water, it made me sad. The whole rest is very commercial, nice to walk up and down for once, that's it. A pity, that humans do not care more for nature and keep the river Guayas clean.

Nice place at the middle of the city. Good choice for kids and couples (there is a cinema at the end)

The place is safe, there's atleast 1 police after every 200 meters. There's few cafes and restaurants + 1 dodgy shopping mall. The place is nice and clean, but still it's just a place to walk.

No doubt this is one of the things to do iwhile visiting Guayaquil, because there aren't many, but it's likely to disappoint you unless you are just looking for a wide open space to walk along the river away from the traffic. There isn't much going on for foreign tourists, although when we visited there were some sort of dodgy... More

Impressive (excessive?) amount invested in this venue. Not near enough shade - the midday sun was torture! But, being Canadian, perhaps our tolerance for extreme heat & humidity is quite limited. Worth a stroll for sure, but take an umbrella or wear a very wide-brimmed hat. The commercial outlets seem to be more of the focus than the waterfront. Evenings... More
