I went to this market from Cotacachi, which is about 20 minutes away by bus or 10 minutes by taxi. Bus fare is 55 cents, taxi is $5. There are plenty of vendors to choose from, many of them make the same kind of products,...More

The Saturday market is one of the must-sees in the region. It is not only for tourists but also for locals. Prices are not exaggerated. The quality of the products however is not what it used to be.

When you’re staying in Quito, I think it’s not worth the trip to Otavalo for only this market. I was a bit disappointed because everyone talked about it, but to me it’s just a normal market for tourists. Everyone is selling the same stuff and...More

At the hotel in Quinto after flying in, we ask a local where to begin our journey, the market was suggested because it was Sunday and that’s a big day for the market and a lot of vendors would be set up. If you need...More

One of the top markets in South America. You can spend the complete day seeing everything. Beautiful hand made textiles. I bought musical instruments, a Charanga and a pan pipe. I also bought the colorful cases to ho with. A fun place to go.

I recommend going on Wednesday’s—Saturday’s are incredibly busy and other days are so slow that vendors harass you for buying from other vendors.

I went to this store and I was amazed. Everything was so great and the service was fantastic. And you really get the chance to know the people. I'll be back soon some of the best work happens here.
