I was very pleased with the entire Julio Verne team for organizing an amazing volcano climbing experience for me. Mine was a 6-day trip that included 3 peaks (Rumiñahui, Iliniza Norte and finally Chimborazo). My guide, Fabian, was terrific, he grew up climbing mountains in Ecuador and has probably done all of the summits hundreds of times. I always felt safe with him, even though we had some pretty rough conditions, especially at the Ilinizas. But also beyond the climbing, the whole trip (including accommodation, meals and transfers) was very well organized. The Chimborazo Lodge is simply beautiful, could not have imagined a better place to rest prior to the final summit attempt. And I cannot thank the team enough for the flexibility re changing mountains last minute (I was supposed to climb Carihuairazo instead of Chimborazo, and changed plans a few days before the planned climb, once my trip already started, which the team accommodated promptly) - this way I was able to celebrate my birthday on top of Chimborazo, which will definitely be hard to forget. A huge thank you for the entire trip, I had an incredible time! Definitely recommended

We - two girls travelling - had a great one-day-hike close to Chimborazo.
The driver picked us up perfectly in time. As we speak Spanish he explained some interesting facts about the area on our way towards the hike. The guide (basic english speaking as agreed) was relaxed, really nice and considerate. As local guide he also had a lot of interesting insights whenever we asked. When not asked I really enjoyed the quietness and thus not too many explanation. We could enjoy walking silently and take as many pictures as we wanted without being hurried.
Very thoughtful we had several short breaks and were asked wether we feel ok (with physical condition in the hight) several times. Our guide always paid attention that we three are all together.
Vegan Box Lunch was good too.
I especially appreciate the uncomplicated planning via WhatsApp without pre-payment and thus each others trust which totally worked out on both sides.

We did the Volcano Circuit Trek around Chimborazo with Julio Verne. It was very well organized. The equipment was just perfect. We slept 2 nights in the tent and 2 nights in a Refugium. I was thinking, that I will freeze, but the sleeping bags were so good, that I did't feel the cold. Our guide Marcial was cooking excellent, he was telling and explaining us a lot. We felt comfortable with him. It was really a good decision to make the Trek with Julio Verne, we can recommend them very much. Thank you for all you did. Gabriel age 33, Bigi age 63

We had a fantastic trip with Julio Verne, in large part thanks to the great team involved who, with great attention to detail and always responsive to our too many questions, made sure that we were well taken care of.
What differentiates great agencies from good ones is how they adapt to new circumstances. Our original plan involved a trek to El Altar, which had to be abandoned because of bad weather. We were informed of this possibility as soon as it became likely, so we had time to find a suitable alternative, which for us was extended 3 days Vicuña trek around Chimborazo that we would highly recommend to everyone who likes trekking.
We also couldn’t be happier with our drivers and guides. Attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating we always felt safe and free to experience our trip as we wanted and not, as one sometimes feels, running on somebody else’s schedule.

We made a great tour through Ecuador through Julio-Verne.com. Transport with your own driver, excellent local guides and choice of accommodations tailored to our wishes. In short, a tailor-made trip and perfectly organized. Popkje, the owner of Julio-Verne, has been living and working in Ecuador for 30 years and knows the country and culture through and through. You can always contact her with questions or issues during the trip. Highly recommended!

Julio Verne organised a Volcano Circuit Trek around Chimborazo for the two of us and we also used them to book an Amazonian rainforest trip (at Mandari Panga Lodge, Yasuni NP and described separately). Popkje was a huge help and answered all our queries promptly. It was quite apparent that she had been in this business for a long time and I am pleased to say detail was attended to. Both trips went very well and to plan. As requested for the volcano circuit trek, we had an experienced, English-speaking guide, Marciel, who could explain aspects of the ecosystem we walked through. As an extra bonus a trainee guide also came along; Leonardo could speak some English and as a local was very knowledgeable about the area. Both of them were amenable, good company and we felt in safe hands. The driver for the pick ups and ferrying around, Moses, used to do guiding too so we were well catered for. He joined us the last night at the refugio and did the cooking. The food that night was pretty good, and as earlier was plentiful with dietary needs catered for.

We booked a Cotopaxi tour with Julio Verne travel. Although we did not reach the summit (we were evacuated from the mountain due to the volcano becoming active in the night of our climb), we can fully recommend the agency. They were very friendly, responsive, and helpful, the provided climbing gear was in very good shape and our guide Paúl was very experienced and friendly.
Definitely our go-to tour provider for our next visit in Ecuador!

Popkje & the team were great from start the finish. The organization, the prompt response time, and efficiency on arrival was 100%.
Despite the poor weather, Popkje was on hand to assist with amending itinerary and partial refund where necessary.
Would definitely recommend for anyone looking it take on Chimborazo!

Nice and very friendly agency.
We contacted them via whatsapp and got all information we required for a hike and bike tour to Chimborazo by phone call in perfect english.
As we intended to continue our travel to Cuenca on the same day, they offered us an earlier pickup time in the morning and to drop us off directly at the bus terminal in Riobamba in the afternoon.
At the end we were just super unlucky with the weather and had to cancel the tour in the morning. As it was raining in the night and morning, there was a low chance to see the peak of Chimborazo at all and a high chance of snow on the hiking and biking trails.
Nevertheless we can highly recommend the agency for the very nice contact and perfect support!

This tour is suitable for beginners as well as experienced mountainbikers. Route 2 is the more challenging route and I would definitely recommend it for experienced riders. It's not super challenging but it is very fun. For beginners route 2 is very challenging so in our group a few people started out on route 2 but decided after a small bit of the trail that route 1 would suit them better until route 2 got less steep. The guide was very nice, was very proficient in English and had good biking skills. The bikes were okay, about what you would expect for the price. The hike at the top is also worth the effort. Lunch was great, best lunch we've had on any tour. Communication with Julio Verne Travel was very relaxed and easy. I don't know what the other tours offer (some are cheaper), but I would definitely recommend this one.
