Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Saints Cyril and Methodius were brothers and were Byzantine Christian theologians and Christian missionaries who developed the first Slavic alphabet as well as other notable acheivements. The monument commemorating their lives is close to the harbour in Ohrid where there are also other significant monuments.

Located near the port, at the beginning of the promenade along the lake, it stands surroanded with a small, yet beautiful garden. It has no explanations available, so no way too kniw the history behind it, but you can still enjoy the fine art.

Macedonians are no great sculptors though they like pputting statues everywhere for Alexander and all kind of national heroes, so seeing the monument has no priority. You can hardly miss it, though, being in the centre near the port. This doesn't affect the importance of the saints, of course, who are onmipresent in the Balcan area and the Slav world in general.

Catholic church inspired statue. It is a megalithic block of stone, and appears rather overpowering, rather inspiring. We felt that the sentiment was lost in the art.

Near our hotel "Riviera" in Ohrid Town, just in the square, beside the port, is located this very important monument for the Macedonian people and its history. We often passed beside it, as we went in the old part of town and further up the hill to the Samuil Fortress.
They were 9th- century Byzantine Greek brothers, who devised the Glagolitic Alphabet and also Christian missionaries among the Slavic people of the Great Moravia and Pannonia. They deserve all credit for inventing the Cyrillic alphabet too.
Very nice stone monument in the park, that shows us, these two brothers in the serious position of pioneers and teachers.

It gives the beholder a lasting memory of the persons who created the Cyrillic Alphabet. Especially to kids. This shows how grateful Macedonian people are.

The art work on the walls is absolutely superb. Take a knowledgeable guide who can explain it such as Zoran from Villa Germanoff and prepare to be amazed
