Decided to check out the botanical gardens, at first we were going to do a self guided tour, but we changed our minds and got the guide. He turned out to be the owner, very knowledgeable and has a passion for nature and historical facts....More

Beautiful botanical garden with trail to top with great view of ocean and Anthony's key. Neat to see cocoa pods and ginger in bloom. Bring a poncho ($3) at Anthony's key resort or light raincoat for downpours

We visited in Jan but not much was in bloom. Jungle is hot and humid. View from the top is good but the trail up is draining and not for the mobility challenged. More signage is needed to tell what everything is.

Staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and witty. The gardens are well stocked, and laid out, although there were pelnty of people visiting, it never felt crowded.

This botanical garden was a 10 minute walk from our hostel. It was nice to venture out into local land such as this botanical garden. The entry costs $10 per person. They give you a map of the area and for an additional $10 per...More

We stumbled upon this garden and had a pleasant 1.5 hour stroll/hike. The flatter section takes you past some labeled trees and plants including bananas, ginger, cocoa and apparently an elusive breadfruit tree. The grounds were well cared for with multiple benches/shade spots. We did...More

We loved our hike here and all the plants you get to see. The hike to the top takes about a half hour, maybe more if you're stopping to look at everything, and it isn't terribly challenging. It feels like you're in the middle of...More

Our cruise ship docked at Mahogany Bay, Roatan. We did not book a tour through the ship but found a taxi to take us to the botanical gardens. Hubs and I enjoyed the garden but did not spend a lot of time here. Hubby has...More

We have been to Carambola 3 times over the last 10 years, It is a couple of very relaxing hours to see vegetation that you will not see anywhere else on the island.

Having booked this trip as a cruise ship attraction, I was QUITE disappointed at the overall tour. Marilyn, our tour guide, rushed us through much of the botanical garden and then took us to places that she apparently received kick-back for promoting on her tour....More

My trip was part of an island tour, booked from the cruise I was on. But there were lots of independent operators at the port.

You probably have the answer you need - however, your aunt COULD visit the gardens if she was content to stay in the lower part near the entrance building. There are places to sit and the trails are pretty easy to navigate... More

Depending on how many times you stop to read about the plants, anywhere from an hour to two. If it sprinkles like it did when we were there, maybe a bit longer.
