1. From Dhordo The White desert is usually and most popularly accessed from Dhordo ( where the tent city is put up every year during the Rann Festival). So people living in the tent city as well as all other people visiting Dhordo access the Rann from this location. Location : It is around 80km from Bhuj city. Acco :... More

The White Rann (Desert) of Kutch, with the Rann Utsav (Festival) is open only for 120 days every winter and is worth a visit for it's uniqueness - a vast flatland made of salt - white, gleaming - the only such in India, and perhaps, the world. The money and effort will be worth if viewed during the full moon... More

Visit around full moon night. White desert looks stunning with moon light reflecting. Facilities for travellers are of good quality. Craft bazar was little costly compared to handicraft shop in Bhuj. But lot cheaper compared to branded show rooms. Very good experience and fun to be there with family and friends.

It is a huge salt deposit expanse but loses the tranquility and beauty because of the huge crowd turnout. Needs basic toilet facilities.

Can't tell if the experience is better if you stay in a tent in one of the resorts. Vehicles can't go beyond a certain point. You have to take the shuttle bus. The last bus leaves at 8 pm, so you miss out on the view which is supposed to be spectacular on a full moon night... or be prepared... More

Fine if you really want to see a white desert but in order to arrive yo have to park (pay for it) pay a largish entry fee, leave your passports having filled in endless forms, catch a basic bus and then walk up a busy track with many other visitors in order to take a photo and repeat the whole...
