- Divya7Chennai (Madras), India224 contributionsFine but a bit over hypedThere are several gates to take the boats from and its cheaper if you are in a group. It was Rs.400 for 6 people in Dec 2023. The flora and birds you see will depend on the season - I was able to see sparrows, Kingfishers, aambal and a variety of nightshade flower. You can also ride cycles or walk around the lake and do a bit of touristy shopping. White chocolate is better here compared to the roadside.Visited December 2023Travelled on businessWritten 13 December 2023

It’s nice but being from USA - it’s nothing to get excited about
Walking around is a break from the town . The locals love it and it’s fresh and cooler than the plains

I have been to Kodaikanal Lake multiple times but I would like to let you all know that it has not been maintained by the government. Previously they used to not allow any vehicles to park around the lake they were available for cycling path and walking. But nowadays there are a lot of vehicles parked and no path for cycles. I see only very few numbers of people riding the rent cycle. Not safe for kids to ride bicycles as before.
No proper management and places are not tidy. Boating is a good option to try at the lake.

Nice place for a morning walk.. during peak seasons this place is more crowded, another option is to hire cycles and you can roam around the lake. Boating is good too.

.I Forgot to mention an important issue. Few months back all he unauthorized lodges and private resorts running without proper liscence have been sealed. Be careful. Do not book in such resorts. You may loose your money. Go for lodges with reputation. Be careful with catchy advertisements online
What is the price of cycling

Yeah, the ones at the lake are expensive... on an off season day, you can try negotiating, though (I think)
The cycles aren't good, btw!
