Divinity in the abode of hills. One of the nice places to visit in Kodaikanal. Feel the freshness and cool breeze whenever you visit the temple.

Kurinji Andavar Temple - A Popular Place in Kodai
May 2019
The place has its name due to the Neela Kurinji flower, which blooms once in twelve years. A beautiful view of the flowers can be enjoyed from these premises while having a darshan.

Renovated Temple

Kurinji Aandavar temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan. This region is famous for the Kurinji flower that blooms once in 12 years, the deity is named after the flower Kurinji. The temple is simple and the location is good. But the road is in a very bad shape.

Temples Of Kodaikanal
Jan 2020 • Family
This temple is named after the flower that grows once every 12 years in the hills of Munnar and Kodaikanal. The temple also has a view of the kurinji flowers and a plant inside whenever it blooms. It last bloomed in 2018.

Good calm place

Nice temple to visit. Small one. Inside the temple premises, kurinji plant/tree, in which flowers bloom only once in twelve years is there. Last bloom happend in 2018 and the next will happen in 2030. After the season of flower the tree dries up and again comes up from its seeds as a small plant and takes twelve years to complete its life-cycle.

Lord Muruga Temple Atop the hill..
Sep 2019 • Friends
“Kurinji” Andavar is the Deity and is Lord Muruga in Dhandapani form as in Palani. Quiet and neat temple. Kurinji (Stroebilanthes kunthianus) that flowers like a clock work once in 12 years (last occasion was in May to July 2011) is planted inside the temple. As traditional flowers are costly here in hill, garden flowers are offered for rituals. A must see place. Palani Temple can be seen from the side View Point outside the temple. Entry is free, but parking is at cost and difficult.
