The bridge comes on the way to Rameshwaram. If you are going by road you will see the bridge, which is a single line rail bridge from the road bridge or Indira Gandhi bridge.
Its long, and due to tourists parking on the bridge for view and photo, its crowded.

The Pamban road bridge runs in parallel with the Pamban train bridge. A walk along this magnificent bridge as well as a train ride on the train bridge are mind-blowing experiences. The shallow and crystal clear waters, blue sky and fast-blowing wind make you feel like you are one with the elements which is incredibly exciting. The road bridge is still much higher than the train bridge. If you take the train, you will be able to see the waters very close. The train goes very slowly during the stretch when it is above water and you will appreciate the beauty of the waves and the beauty of engineering.

It's quite unimaginable as it is being erected above the Bay of Bengal in the bygone yesteryears where the technology has not been much developed. It can be viewed from the Indira Gandhi Road bridge. Train services are available from many towns in Tamil Nadu. So pre plan and book your train tickets so that you can have a memorable journey on the railway bridge above a sea.

Finest work of Engineering. At a time this bridge surely was an Engineering marvel as it connect the town of Rameshwaram to mainland India. It has survived a cyclonic storm of 1962. The water below it is so crystal clear. The view is just great and one should visit this place. Travel through rail bridge as well as road bridge

I was here in Dec 2021.
This bridge is connecting Rameshwaram to India.
There are 02 bridges here, 01 for Railway and 02 for Road connecting.
Now A new bridge is under construction.
Wind flowing speed is very much.
good to See.

Excellent but Railway track seems dangerous. The Bridge is on sea . There are two operational bridges - one for Train which is old and operational. second is road bridge and third is new railway bridge under construction. Old bridge of Train line , is being opened by six persons in case of Ship movement, which later on jointed like Hawra bridge. Good to stay some time on road bridge during visit to Rameshwaram. .

Spectacular view of blending turquoise blue Mara with sky. We observed a huge complete rainbow across the bridge.
Safety
Be careful while on the bridge. Stop the vehicle only on designated spots. Avoid crossing the road considering the speeding vehicle.

This bridge was built in 1914 to connect the island town on Rameshwaram to mainland town of Mandapam. It opens midway to let the ships pass. If you happen to be there when the bridge opens up, you can see it from the road bridge built along side the railway bridge.

Hello, We're going to Madurai from Chennai via flight and from Madurai to Rameswaram via car and from Rameswaram to Kanyakumari also via car. We want to experience the Train ride over Pamban bridge. We are not looking forward to a long train journey. Could anyone please suggest which train shall I board and from which station to which, so that we can experience the journey?

I am not getting reservation for any train to Rameshwaram, I am coming from Bangalore and either timing don't fit or there are no seats. Is there any way i can get on any local later that day and just travel on the bridge ? is that possible?

Ramesharwam to Channai which train passes though Pambam bridge

I want an express opinion about your ride from Mandapam to Rameswaram. I did this trip in 1969 when I drove a car from London through many countries and had to send the car from Mandapam to Rameswaram as there was no other bridge then.
a description of your experience would be useful.

We had a driver and the drive was very pleasant. The Pamban bridge has lovely views. We stayed at the Hyatt- very nice hotel. Rameshwaram itself was very crowded due to the large number of pilgrims and the traffics inside the town was pretty heavy. The drive to Dhanushkodi was interesting. I am sure the roads are now much better. First time, so I don’t have a comparison.

at which time it passes through pamban bridge train no 22622 from kanyakumari
Written 27 December 2019
Long distance trains can be late by 1-2 hours. Hard to predict when a particular train will pass through. On the other hand, trains starting from Rameswaram will usually be on time.
Beach Mail, linking Rameswaram and Chennai, enters Pamban Bridge at about 5:15 pm. The bridge is now in a poor condition. Hence the train crawls on the bridge at approximately 10 km/hour.
