Lanta Animal Welfare (LAW) is a non-profit organization based on Ko Lanta. LAW's objective is to relieve the suffering and pain of the animals on the island through sterilisation and care. We are open to visitors everyday from 9am to 5pm when our volunteer staff will happily provide a guided tour of the shelter. We have lots of friendly dogs who would love a long walk and cats who would like a cuddle! The dogs spend their days in grassy outdoor pens, so like everywhere in Thailand, it's best to wear insect/mosquito repellant when visiting.

Our major sponsor is Time For Lime bar, restaurant and cooking school, without their valuable support we would not be here.

It was so heart warming to see all the hard work that has been done to help the stray animal population of Koh Lanta. The work the volunteers do is truly inspirational. Worth taking an hour out of your holiday to do this.

Great to see such an altruistic endeavour on Koh Lanta. We enjoyed our near-hour-long tour, which showed us the entire welfare centre. Hard to resist the temptation to adopt one of the kittens! Definitely worth a visit.

I can see why so many visit here for the free afternoon out. The people there seem to have done a great job over the years and it was nice to fill the afternoon on a rainy day.

How often can you truly say that you have visited an animal centre that absolutely puts the animals first? The good ones are few and far between, but the work that is being done here is outstanding and is actively contributing to the betterment of animal welfare on the island. The centre relies on donations from visitors so I urge... More

A wonderfully inspiring place with super kind patient staff. The creatures seem loved and very well cared for. Worth a visit and if you can adopt, you'll find so many beautiful creatures who need homes. If you can't adopt you might consider helping get an animal home via flight partnerships. If you love animals and want to spread some kindness,... More

This is such a great place run by volunteers, the tour they give is really informative and it shows that the animals are really well cared for and have great areas to run around in. You can adopt any of the animals and it was so lovely that actually quite a lot had been accepted for adoption and were just... More

We really admire this place for being the only vets on the island, sterilising animals for free and vaccinating too. You can tell they love the animals and care well for them, and are doing all they can to educate the islanders. Lovely to see the cats roaming about and living a good life, and hearing so many stories from... More
