Busy but still worth a visit (or three)

Yes, it's busy (thanks, Leonardo) but mainly in the mornings. Fewer boats come here in the afternoon so plan accordingly if you can. The snorkelling is great either way and the... read more

"The beach" famous thanks to Hollywood, Is one of the most popular places to visit in Thailand. It's really nice beach but not the best of Phi Phi It's full of people (I Prefer Lo Sa Ma Bay, Pileh Lagoon and Bamboo Island of course). If you are planning a visit, You should go between 6 and 10 am, after... More

Yes, it's busy (thanks, Leonardo) but mainly in the mornings. Fewer boats come here in the afternoon so plan accordingly if you can. The snorkelling is great either way and the scenery is spectacular. We saw Moray eels, Sea Snakes, Moorish Idols, more Blacktip Reef sharks than I could count - and a lot more. Hire a longtail boat to... More

Beautiful place run down by hundreds of tourists. We were lucky to book a spot on the "maya bay sleep aboard" trip that has private beach access after hours, sleeping in the bay overnight, and then morning beach access.

Waste of time. Beach is so overpopulated and the fact that on top of paying for a boat to get there it is an additional fee to park up. WHAT A JOKE!

Maya bay is a beautiful beach, but like all these attraction in the area, we arrived at peak time and encountered mass tourism. The beach is nice and clean, just wish we had gone much earlier.

Great views but the island is so crowded that it puts you off! We went there at 7.30 am hoping to miss crowds, but there were so many people that we ended up staying only for about 10 minutes.

Having read the reviews about walking on nets, dangerous, rip offs, overcharging etc we chose to go with a company called Vitamin Sea - cannot rate them highly enough. Maya Bay was just one of the stops that day, we went STRAIGHT to the beach, the sea was very clean as was the sand. We were NOT charged any extra,... More

There is no denying the Phi Phi Islands, including Maya Bay are stunning. The dramatic sheer cliffs, caves and soaring rock formations are really beautiful and something to see. But. The insane number of boats and crowds of tourists really spoil the experience. We literally could not see the famous 'beach' for the thousands of people behind the hundreds of... More
